Battle Challenge - Tournament Battles

in #splinterlands2 years ago

Hello community, whenever I can I have been participating in tournaments as well as playing my daily battles in the game. Sometimes I try to play in Silver tournaments even though most of my cards are Bronze, I try my luck when it makes sense to have some return.

I usually participate in tournaments where you need SPS in stake, in some cases you need to win battles to get a return, in other cases playing for fun generates a return.

For example, in this tournament 125 players were registered, with an entry fee of 5 SPS, but places 65-128 earned 9 SPS, meaning that even if the tournament went badly, we would earn 4 SPS.
In that sense, since I could win 4 SPS, I rented some more cards by paying DEC to perform better in the tournament.

In this tournament there were battles that went well, but I couldn't win the battles necessary to move on to the next phase of the tournament, and was only one battle away from doing so.

However, I can't be discouraged, even though I didn't advance to the next phase, I finished in position 45 and received 33 SPS when the entry fee was 5 SPS, I can say that it was a good reward.

Yesterday there was also a new Silver tournament, and I decided to sign up because it also paid off, where there were 98 entries and from position 65-128 earned 10 SPS.

Although it is a bit demanding for my deck, I managed to win against strong players but I was again one win away from passing the knockout stage, however at the moment I occupy position 48 where I will receive 15 SPS, and it is already a good reward in relation to what I can do with my deck in a strong league with experienced players.

Just last night I saw that there was a Silver tournament with 1 DEC entry fee, there were 102 players signed up but only 20 players won.
But since I had rented some cards, I took advantage and signed up for the tournament.

I made it through two qualifiers and ended up in position 6 where I won 400 DEC, and it was a very good tournament where I had some luck in the opponents I faced.

Now yes, let's get to the battles part, they are not my best battles that I share, but battles against strong opponents, some luck mixed in, but it is the fun part of the game, where not always the best cards win the battles, but the strategy put together.

For this battle the Melee attack cards gained Sneak ability, and we could only use Common and Rare cards having the maximum Mana available.

When I saw my opponent, I understood that it was going to be a complicated and borderline battle, where he has a large number of evolved cards, and I had to surprise him in order to win.

To make a difference in battle, I understood that my best available cards were from Water Splinter and I needed to choose a Summoner.
If I could use Legendary cards, I would have chosen Kelya Frendul to be able to use River Hellondale at level 2 with Resurrect and Inspire abilities. But since I couldn't, I understood that it would be better to choose Lir Deepswimmer where besides giving Armor Buff, it also gave Return Fire and Blind ability.
So my strategy was to choose only Melee attack cards, and protect the last position of the battle with Serpent of Eld where it allowed the opponent to miss some of his Sneak attacks.

My Summoner was undoubtedly the best choice in this battle against Summoner Yodin, where due to the opponent having chosen Ranged attack cards and gaining Blast ability, my cards having Return Fire ability allowed me to cause enough damage to the opponent's Ranged cards, and thus eliminate them from the battle. Where later the combat became more balanced, and I ended up winning this battle, with some luck mixed in with the strategy used.

In this battle the cards had the same Health points and the Melee attack cards could attack from any position.
For this battle I understood that it would be better to use cards with healing ability, so I gave up the ruleset and took a chance on Magic attack cards.

So my strategy was to use Unicorn Mustang as a tank due to his Void skill and his strong attack, then Kron as a tank replacement due to his Heal skill, and the rest of the formation cards that have a Magic attack, but protect my tank with the Tank Heal skill, prevent the opponent from being healed, with the Affliction skill, and heal my backline cards with the Triage skill. And in the last position, Regal Peryton, card with high speed to prevent from Sneak attacks. Surprisingly the opponent used the new Summoner Grandmaster Rathe which gave protection against Magic attacks, using two cards with Repair ability, and even reducing my Magic attack. A well put together strategy, where he risked the protection of the cards against Magic attacks and Kralus as a tank would be difficult to eliminate.

My Unicorn Mustang tank could deal well with the opponent's Magic attacks, and Goblin Psychic was always healing his health.
It was difficult to eliminate the opponent's Taunt card, but in the 4th round my cards managed to eliminate Shieldbearer, and so the opponent had few attack cards that could cause damage to my tank, and that allowed me to win the battle.

There is no doubt that Grandmaster Rathe is a difficult Summoner to eliminate, especially when using Magic attack cards, but since the opponent risked too much on defense with little attack, it allowed me to damage his cards and my Unicorn Mustang tank was crucial to deal with the opponent's Magic attacks combining with Tank Heal ability.
