I recently bought a couple of soon-to-be ore producing plots so my holding distribution now looks like this:
NB I'm not sure where my plots in shimmering coasts came from, they are un-surveyed, and probably NOT going to be ore producing as all of the plots around them are bogs.
So I looked on the market and picked up one badlands and one caldera plot, NB I thought they were in the same region, but they're not, I probably should have looked harder at the listings! Anyways, I now have TWO soon-to-be ore producing plots.
They set me back $20 each, both with buildings in a box and one with a grain farm already, the other is in the under construction phase...
My rationale...
Well the cost to harvest SPS and research is going to be...
- 0.02 wood, CHECK!
- O.02 stone, DOUBLE CHECK!
- 0.0005 Ore - errrr NOPE!
My tract, with my castle has ZERO soon-be-ore-producing plots developed or developing. In fact there are only about a dozen such plots in the entire region, so I have no other suitable means of generating a base amount of ore...
I figure that ORE is going to be the most valuable given that we've already been told in the SL discord that the ore producing plots are the rarest.
Granted I could/ will be trading stone and wood (I've got around 20 stone and 10 wood plots in my tract) for ore, but I figure it's going to be quite a bad trade.
With a couple of Ore plots if necessary I can put some high PP monsters on them and that'll go SOME way to giving me some ore to develop with, or harvest SPS.
I figure two ORE plots will allow me to be self sufficient in harvesting SPS and RESEARCH from at least my best plots without having to trade. It gives me a little while longer for the market to calm down in those early days!
25% of my SPS comes from just ONE plot, so I can at least carry on harvesting that if I load up one of the ORE plots with similar base PP.
Obvs I'll still have to trade but this gives me some flexibility. I can do SOMETHING if there's an extreme lack of ORE on the market!
I'm actually tempted to pick up a few more of these bad boys! I just might have to be a bit more clever about picking my locales!
Postcript...
I ended up buying a couple more too!
