Specular Splinterlands Showdown!

I'm not a Splinterlands novice by any means. I've been in the SPL ecosystem since inception, have over 2 million collection power in cards and have reached as high as Diamond 1 with manual play (over 3,600 rating). That said, I'm by no means an expert at the game.

I DO want to get better at the game, though!

"Spectacular Splinterlands Showdown!" is a series that's aimed at improving my own play. The hope is that it can provide the same value for others, perhaps even yourself 😊

Without further ado,

Today we're looking at a battle between INFINITYX22 (Infinity) and JAYZEAN (Jayz). The battle conditions are Noxious Fumes and Holy Protection , on 60 mana, w/ fire, water, earth, life, death and dragon to pick between.

Seen below are your chosen lineups (click on link to watch this epic battle!):

Thoughts on The Lineups:

They're both packing two resurrects and one repair for the same MASSIVE tank (Uriel the Purifier). They're also both rocking one protect. While Infinity has two high HP, self-healing tanks up front (the other being Kralus), Jayz opted for a self-healing taunt in position 6 (Agor Longtail) and two additional tank heals (one coming from Byzantine Kitty).

The additional heals on Jayz's team, along with the +2 speed and True Strike provided by Kitty, has me leaning towards that unit being the victor. That said, Infinity has more average HP in the backline (other than Pos 6) and an additional Triage, which I think could end up proving useful for the Noxious Fumes ruleset.

So, in other words, I'm not too confident about my pick...

Winning Odds:

Utilizing bubke's (@bubke) valuable tool, I'm getting hits of a win percentage of 100% in favor of Infinity!

Closing Thoughts/ Other Notes:

Hmm. Welp, I was REALLY wrong about this one. Turns out, my pick to win this one was a 100% loser!

It seems that the extra Triage on Infinity's team really did play out to be an advantage. Also, I admittedly failed to pick up on the huge role Kralus' Immunity would play, considering this game was being played under a Noxious Fumes ruleset. That's something that I should have picked up on, which would have likely had me picking Inifinity as the winner if I had, but I didn't, so, I'll own up to my L.

Regardless, this was an exciting battle to watch. We get to see the relatively new Oshuur Constantia in play, along with the beastly new taunt-tank in Agor Longtail. But, unfortunately for Jayz, they didn't prove out to be enough to get a win in this case.

Infinity's lineup, with the addition of Kralus, who is simply OP in Noxious Fumes, was today's winner and true MVP!
