I am writing this simply to reflect my ideas, reread them in a few weeks and receive feedback if you wish to advise me. It is not financial advice, or anything like that, I am simply going to plan my future purchases in Splinterlands, to go up to Gold-Diamond during March or April and stay as long as possible in that league, I am going to focus on both specific cards and combos.
I am going to buy modern format cards in this post, because the division will be done in a few weeks. I'll focus on Dice and Untamed and cheap Chaos Legion for when the format changes. This report is also valid for rental
SUMMONERS:
I don't see any use in Contessa l'Ament in the current meta that I play, the debuff of reducing range attack by -1 to the enemy team, is circumstantial and the 1 mana difference isn't significant with Owster Rotwell. Additionally, you can't control the cards that your opponent will play, and he can end up playing cards that won't be affected by your debuff if they see your summoner in previous battles.
I think that Mimosa Nightsade is a good summoner, but the price to pay removes it directly from my list, I would need 6BCX for the gold league at price ~$185.
In my previous article for Silver: "Mimosa Nightshade at level 2 (3BCZ) = $ 600 Is a crazy cost for me, but 1 to $ 200 although I would limit myself to Bronze, I could reconsider-it for being such a good summoner at this affordable price"
Thaddius Brood is a good summoner, but $3 is still a high price considering we need 60BCX ~$180, there are 3 times more BCX than Contessa or Owster, but it is not reflected in the price. And there are still half of the Chaos legion packs left to sell, add those that remain to be opened, I honestly think that having it higher than level 2 is not worth it today.
Owster Rotwell a month ago it was $10, somedays it has dropped significantly. It's a temptation buying 1 or 2 BCX month to month, until 60BCX. I think it is the best investment, if we talk about summoners, however I have to rent it to play with it.
TABLE PRICES
Name | BCX | Total Buy | Total Rent |
---|---|---|---|
Owster Rotwell | 25 | $260,00 | 22DEC |
Thaddius Brood | 25 | $28,10 | <14DEC |
Mimosa Nightsade | 3 | $533,00 | <50DEC |
MONSTERS:
There are many interesting monsters in CL similars to past editions, so I will focus on the most prominent ones that I have seen in videos and posts. @luizeba have a post pre-CL https://ecency.com/hive-140217/@luizeba/death-splinter-starter-cards-and and a lot of post that help me a lot
TANKS:
There are many tanks for Death Splinter:
Name | Edition | Mana | Level | Armor | Life | Ability |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dark Ha'on | Untamed | 10 | 2 | 2 | 13 | Scavenger & Flying & Taunt |
Undead Rex | Reward | 9 | 5 | 0 | 11 | Trample |
Nightmare | Reward | 8 | 5 | 0 | 11 | Blast |
Harklaw | Reward | 8 | 2 | 3 | 9 | Shield & Immunity |
Bone Golem | Untamed | 7 | 4 | 3 | 8 | Void |
Phantasm | Reward | 6 | 5 | 0 | 7 | Flying & Return Fire |
Cursed Windeku | CL | 6 | 5 | 0 | 11 | Thorns |
Pelacor Deciver | Reward | 5 | 5 | 0 | 10 | Flying |
Xenith Monk | CL | 4 | 4 | 0 | 7 | Heal |
There aren't too many synergies between summoners and tanks, or new tactics. But if we look at the back line, there are interesting combinations. You should use the one with the best numbers, I usually use the Cursed Windeku and sometimes Harklaw or incluse Pelaor Deceiver.
For battles with rule of max 4 mana battles, I directly use Xenith monk, Neutral moster with Heal at level 2 (and void at level 6 Gold Leage) $0,60 BCX
BACK LINE:
Tank Healers:
Splinter of Death doesn't have tank healers like other Splintrs, so our strategy is to kill more than Stand Up like a rock.
Melee Damage Dealers:

Maggots | Untamed | 3 | 5 | 2 | 3 | Opportunity | Better in gold |
Battering Ram | Dice | 2 | >1 | 1 | 1 | Opportunity | Must have |
Ok, This is one of the good things that the Death splinter has, making attacks from all positions, and attacking the front row, the last position (Sneak) or the weakest (Opportunity). Silent sha-vi is the flag bearer, a must-have monster for new players. Together Uraeus, Neutral that can be combined into any Splinter (epic reward card that give 100CP for $0,60 BCX) can destroy the opposing team from the last position until tank. Can also be combined with a copy of Battering Ram ($0.75 BCX) or Undead Badger (Starter free) or both
Range/Magic Damage Dealers:
The future star of death team is Venari Bonesmith, they may not seem very strong now in Silver, but in Gold League she will be a must, for $3.00 you get 500CP if you buy her in gold foil. You can add anyother card, like Life Sapper, Soul Stranger...
HOW REACH 15K CARD POWER:
I am going to focus on Death Splinter, but @cjlugo writed a interesting post for general budget

Considerations on 28 Febrary :
Until today I am playing a lot with Earth Splinter, since I start on the game, it was the liked one for me and I bought cards to raise power and have a bronze deck (Obsidian lvl 2, Wood Nymph lvl 1, Goblin Psychic lvl 3, Hill giant lvl 3, Hill Giant lvl 3, Mycelic Morphic lvl 3 among others)
However the Death Splinter give me a lot of fun good, base deck of both and with 3 investments of that amount to be able to have a competitive deck for Silver-Gold
If you don't have an account in splinterlands, you can create one here https://steemmonsters.com/?ref=urkanon

Pelacor Deciver | Reward | 5 | 5 | 0 | 10 | Flying |
Xenith Monk | CL | 4 | 4 | 0 | 7 | Heal |

Battering Ram | Dice | 2 | >1 | 1 | 1 | Opportunity | Must have |
Range/Magic Damage Dealers:

Considerations on 28 Febrary :
