Analyzing The Styles Of Three Profitable Bettors

Oddspedia is an interesting site and one of the useful features is the profitable tipsters feature. Basically, it's a contest for sports bettors to compete and see who can generate the most returns.

What caught my eye was that the three most profitable tipsters with a consistent track record all use the same strategy: parlaying low odds. Here's an example from Bettor 1:

Bettor 2 employs a similar strategy combing two low odds to generate a higher return:

And finally a sample of Bettor 3's bets:

And all three of them do this over and over again, generating some pretty impressive returns. Checking out the stats of the weakest of the three:

So at 1.35 average odds and an 80% success rate, that's 10% of excess returns above the bookmaker's odds which is pretty impressive given that this is over 1000 bets. You'd be interested to note that the other winning bettors are also out with similar stats:

The other interesting thing is that even though they're betting on low odds, their win rate isn't something ridiculous like 90%. They're just grinding out the small difference between their odds and the bookmaker's odds over many, many bets. That's something worth considering and probably a change I'm going to make in my own betting plan.
