You will fall into their nets!
Today we will talk about a real gem with the ability to poison second line enemies, with the ability to cut the wings of flying creatures, the lava spider! It is found in the new chaos legion set and although it has the common category, it really is an unusual card.
As you know, I like to share really special battles, battles that make the difference between victory and defeat, and with which I hope you can learn a little more about this magical world of Splinterlands.
So here we go!
PREP STAGE
On this occasion I have to say that I already had a maximum level lava spider in my deck, as well as many maximized fire legion chaos cards. So I already had experience with these cards and it is a pleasure to use them as they have very special abilities.
In a 23 mana battle I find it very important to play medium mana cards and get the most out of all their abilities. In this sense, it's a lot like a max 4 mana battle. Chaos Legion fire cards are especially useful as they deal a lot of damage.
For those who do not have this configuration in their deck, I have looked at the rental value of all of them, as the following image shows, the chosen cards are worth 317 dec in the current rental market.

Battle conditions: Lost Legendaries / 23 Mana
Understanding rival strategy
The opponent clearly focuses on the defensive area. To do this, he increases his speed with River Nymph (E) and uses two important cards that are already fast, such as Kelp Initiate (A) and Pelacor Bandit (F). In the same way, Tower Griffin (B) increases armor by 2 to all of his creatures. Since before this battle I used creatures with the sneak ability, the opponent chooses two second line healers, both A and Angelic Mandarin(D). It also devalues my magic attack with D and BORTUS by 2 - of course I didn't use magical creatures -
On the considerably weaker offensive side, the opponent chooses the sneak ability of F and the blast ability of Grenadier (C).
To improve his result, the rival should have chosen a more offensive strategy and not rely so much on his defensive side.
Understanding my strategy
The point of this mid-low mana game was finding cards that were effective both defensively and offensively and placing them neatly on the game board. With this in mind I decided to create the following setup:
💥TARSA: Increases melee damage and life, thus improving both defensive and offensive strategy.
Antoid Platoon (1) In my first position, I needed a very defensive piece full of armor and shield, with its scavenger abilities making it a very dangerous card.
Scavo Chemist (2) Its function is to reduce its attack range, speed and give immunity to my tank. Also, defensively it is a card with a lot of health in relation to its mana, it can take damage per blast for a certain time.
🕸Lava Spider (3) Here is our main character, lava spider poisons the second line and eliminates the flying ability of his enemies.
Scavo Firebolt (4) With a rank 4 attack our card is one of our main offensive cards.
Uraeus (5) To continue poisoning their second line to make our victory easier.
Venari Heatsmith (6) Here we have one of our hidden gems, the spines of our Venari in last position is a very damaging trap against enemy sneakers.
I think I've been able to create a very balanced setup between attack and defense, so I don't really know how to improve it.
RESULTS & Experience
The key to winning this battle was to use a very balanced setup between defense and offense, using very useful extra abilities for the occasion, such as Poison, Snare, Scavenger and Thorns. Against this build it is very difficult to create another one that counteracts it. The enemy had very interesting defensive cards, but he would have needed to focus more on the attack, from my point of view. His chosen abilities were very interesting, although mine really decided the battle in my favor in a really short time.
Despite this, from the setup chosen by the opponent, it is clear that he is an experienced player from whom you can learn.
My experience with Lava Spider
My experience with the Lava Spider has been very interesting, I have taken advantage of the opportunity to maximize its abilities and fight with many different enemies to discover the strength of each of its abilities. After all this, I can say that Lava Spider is one of those key cards that can surprise an enemy until they are defeated. ò.ó
