My google photos just popped up a reminder 3years ago picture I took while still in school. Aside the stress, the early morning rush and the struggle I miss school and it's fun.
Allow me to take you to some very funny memories I had back then in school.
After my year one session, I left the private hostel to the school hostel I wanted to feel the fun not because I like the hostel but because most of my friends stay there, please don't call it peer pressure, 🤣🤣 let's just call it exploring. Aside my friends staying in the hostel it also have some amenities like guaranteed light from 7pm to 12a.m in case of light failure from national grid, water and security.
We were about ten (10) living in a room made for four persons with four bunks space, but the room was so crowded and it was full of different people with different characters, background and religious or philosophical belief. They also have different funny life style but throughout my stay in the hostel I learnt people's behavior and how to manage them.
The Early morning rush is something else, the long queue that is formed at the bathroom is like that of cars queueing up at the filling ⛽ station during fuel scarcity or is it still the noise and the quarreling you hear while still waiting for your turn? Just know that you will be going late for class that day.
Should I talk about the eating habit of some of my roommates? There are some who don't like sharing their things but like to use other people's own and even eat their food.
Sometimes after night class we would be so hungry that we don't mind preparing a meal that night. I remember coming back from class one time around 1:30a.m and I was so hungry and I had nothing to eat all my provision had finished then but I had beans and other ingredients to cook beans guess what??? 😳 You guessed right I ended up eating around 3 AM or so after cooking the beans. Funny enough I didn't eat alone as I had a host of ladies that joined that night.
Sometimes people's items get missing; things like your bucket of water, cooking pot, foot wear, and unfortunately even undies and sometimes food provisions.
I remember one funny incident that happened to one of my roommates. she bought a new gown and she washed it and hanged it out to dry, when she went back to bring her cloth in she couldn't find them again she was so sad that day and we all helped in the search of the gown but we didn't find it. 😑
One beautiful Sunday morning while we both were going for service we saw a lady with the gown we have been looking for and we approached her instead of her to feel remorseful and apologize, she said "you have to wait till I return then I will bring your gown for you for now I am late". 😂😂😂 To say I was shocked was an understatement such boldness. We quietly left.
I had plenty fun memories and sad ones but in all I enjoyed my stay there.
Did you experience anything like that in your public schools hostel?
Tell me about your school fun memories.
