The Daily Meme #346!

Have you noticed gangstalking voting on comments that you also vote on?

IF you are not aware, the last hardfork changed the curation game to punish late voters to the benefit of the earlier voters.

As long as you vote in the first 24 hours there is no penalty.
But, if you vote after 24 hours there is an increasing tax on your curation rewards that goes to the day one voters.
If you vote a post on day 6, you will be quite heavily taxed and gangstalking will be among the beneficiaries.
This mainly applies to comments, but works on posts, too.

I don't know how the math breaks down on posts with lots of votes, but if you vote after day 1 and gangstalking is ahead of you, he will be a beneficiary of the tax.

How we wish to counter this move by him is something we, the community, should discuss, imo.

I can tell you exactly how that will go, all you newbs that don't understand the math of the curation rewards will give to gangstalking a portion of your curation rewards on all comments that you vote after the first 24 hours.

There are countermeasures for this attack on the pool, the easiest may be to flag all posts with his votes on it to zero, then he gets bupkiss.

Or, we can educate the community to avoid voting comments after the first day.
Especially, if it has these types of votes on it.
Gangstalking is not the only account using this attack vector.

One of the attack vectors on the rewards pool hive is earning rewards that the community doesn't support paying out.
Nobody wants low effort posts to get rewards.
By using this tactic, he stands to continuously grow just as sunsetjeebus has.
So, pay attention, don't vote comments with these dust votes already on it, IF it is after the first 24 hours.
During the first 24 hours the curation rewards are linear and there is no penalty for voting after him, it is only after the first 24 hours has elapsed that this attack is viable.

There are others ways to deter this vector.

We could convince him to join with us by putting out 'good' content.
I'm not convinced that this response has had enough effort put into it.
Our control freaks are more likely to off his head than to encourage him to be part of the community, albeit on the fringe of the mainstream.
Especially, once he starts to spam the chain.
It is not an unreasonable response in some perspectives.

If you would like to see this slowly growing attack end, and you would rather reform than off the head, talk to him, invite him to be one of us rather than using the code against us.
He seems to be quite capable.
No reason his content can't be a candidate for curation.

Up to you, it's your freedom to exercise as you see fit.

Well, if the #matrix8 solution would be implemented into hive, we could fix a lot of this problems!

Hope we can because hive has such a great potential.

Blessings!

That is informative and poses some options thanks for that. It is important to have a few options that are made aware through knowledge.
I was wondering what that account was doing, and why all of a sudden it is back.
Education is key...again.

Thanks for the reminder about that late tax FBA...😎 It hurts those low HP noobies the most in their pocketbooks and their hearts...!!!

Or, we can educate the community to avoid voting comments after the first day.

The above is the way to go. There is a third option; create so many comments it zonks his auto upvote bot to 0 resource credits. I create a decent amount of content and noticed the bots upvote disapeared after a day of auto upvoting me. I still get an upvote here and there but it did make me wonder if I put too much strain on his account.

Did you see the report?
I'm guessing most of the flags are his.

I talked to him, he said he left and when he came back he had 20 hive to collect, so he was gonna vote every comment and see how that worked out for himself.

Yeah, he's been auto commenting, aupto voting for awhile (with breaks inbetween). I don't suspect he changes his ways but reaching out should always be the first option (kudos for you for doing that). It would be nice if more did that instead of defaulting to downvoting as the first option.

I was wondering why I've been seeing his name pop up on every comment lately. Thanks for the heads up. There's so much about the hive system I just don't understand. The whole ecosystem seems to love rewarding bots above all.
