Never Give up in Trying Times

in #thoughtfuldailypost10 months ago

Life is full of troubles and challenges here and there. Someone once said, problem less is my problem. He said this because he has not married hence no one to take care of. That becomes his problem. Life is not a bed of roses always but there are times of challenges or difficulties.

Again, someone once said, "challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful". It is interesting to be aware that challenges brings a lot of reactions to people such as frustration, anger, fear, discouragement etc.

However, in looking at the life of some prominent personalities such as an author, J.K Rowlings and American sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln. People are encouraged to never give up in trying times in pursuit of dreams and goals. Please permit me to talk to us about these two personalities mentioned above one after the other:

An Author, J.K Rowlings

At age 17, she was rejected from college. At age 25, her mother died from disease. At age 26, she moved to Portugal to teach English. At age 27, she got married. Her husband abused her. Despite this, her daughter was born. At age 28, she got divorced and was diagnosed with severe depression. At age 29, she was a single mother living on welfare. At age 30, she didn't want to be on this earth. But, she directed all her passion into doing the one thing she could do better than anyone else... Writing.

At age 31, she finally published her first book. At age 35, she had released 4 books, and was named Author of the Year. At age 42, she sold 11 million copies of her new book, on the first day of release. This woman is J.K. Rowling. Remember how she considered suicide at age 30? Today, Harry Potter is a global brand worth more than $15 billion dollars.

In 1831, Abraham Lincoln failed in business. In 1832, he was defeated for legislator. Again, In 1833, he experienced second failure in business. In 1836, he suffered nervous breakdown. In 1838, he was defeated for speakership position and in the same year he went again for election and was defeated. In 1846, he was defeated for congress. In 1855, he was defeated for senator. Also, he was defeated for vice president in 1856. Again, In 1856, he was defeated for senate. But finally, In 1860, he was elected as the sixteenth president of the United States.

Now, remember the multiple times he failed from this or that before he finally emerged as president. Talk about not relenting or giving up, he is a good example set for many.

So, In life, we should acknowledge the challenges, Stay calm, Be positive, Be decisive, Focus on the future, Learn from our mistakes, Be grateful and never give up. No matter how tough things get, never give up. Believe in yourself. Be passionate. Work hard. It is never too late.

Thanks 🤝
