Who Drives a Ferrari Anyway...

We don’t get to see many supercars in my shitty little town, except during summer when tourists occasionally show up in their luxury rides, spending a weekend in this corner of the world. If I were a supercar YouTuber, I’d be starving here...

But I’m not. I did spot an old Ferrari today, parked near a guesthouse at the town’s entrance, and snapped a pic. Sent it to a few mates who are into cars. Then I remembered—I used to be a Ferrari fan.

I still recall this one episode on my way to kindergarten when I told a friend I owned a Ferrari. His mom asked my mom if it was true, and of course, she clarified it was just my imagination. I’ve always had a rich imagination, and sometimes I wish I didn’t.

Having a vivid imagination can be a gift—like Einstein said, "Imagination can take you anywhere." But without action or even a little luck, it’s a thief. You picture yourself in all these incredible scenarios, yet when life doesn’t align, it turns into frustration.

Some people do achieve those dreams, though. The owner of this car probably had similar childhood fantasies. From what I could tell, it was a Ferrari Modena. These things not only have an insane exhaust note, but they’re also known for being pretty reliable.

That said, their performance can easily be outdone by a diesel nowadays—technology’s come a long way. And let’s face it, a Tesla would absolutely smoke it.

But who even drives a Ferrari here? The roads are so bad that, even if I could afford one, I wouldn’t bother. “But it’s a dream,” some might argue. Sure, but dreams have an expiration date. If you don’t achieve them in a certain timeframe, they lose their meaning.

Say I could finally afford one by the time I hit sixty—what’s the point? My driving skills wouldn’t be the same, and the thrill wouldn’t feel the same either. Some people care deeply about status or how others perceive them, but that’s not me.

Not everyone driving an expensive car actually owns it, either. Plenty make ridiculous sacrifices just to flex. That’s never been my style. I’ve always lived below my means and probably always will. I fear poverty and screwing things up, so I play it safe.

Because of that, I’ve killed a lot of passions along the way. That’s just who I am. If this bull market turns out to be my ticket, I might treat myself to a second-hand SUV. But honestly, I’m not counting on it. Bear markets are cold as fuck when you’re short on capital—I’ve got the scars to prove it.

Still, it was nice to see a Modena in real life. Pretty sure it’s the first one I’ve come across. Can’t imagine myself driving one anytime soon, though. Anyway, that’s all from me for now. Wishing you all a great day—catch you next time.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

Not all, but some dreams can come true.

I can't argue with that. Still waiting for the big ones to come true...
