The Big Cheese - Wensleydale

in #travel3 years ago

On a recent trip to the north of England we happened upon the world famous Wensleydale Creamery.

We bought a selection of cheeses from this, the original source of Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese to see what made Wallace & Gromit drool so deliriously? Now we know.👍

Wensleydale is a style of cheese originally produced in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, England, but now mostly made in large commercial creameries throughout the United Kingdom. The term "Yorkshire Wensleydale" can only be used for cheese that is made in Wensleydale. Wikipedia

You never know what you will find on a trip like this, where you just let your curiosity guide you.

We were taking a slow drive through the Yorkshire Dales national park when we saw a sign for the village of Hawes.
This is a beautiful part of the country.

We got taking to the locals who were very friendly and helpful about this little business with a worldwide impact.

Needless to say that the cheeses were indeed delicious and devoured in pretty quick order.

They were all excellent and the stand out cheese was in fact the Yorkshire Wensleydale.

It has a very creamy texture with a strong mature cheddar flavour with a pleasantly unexpected slight hint of blue cheese to finish.
Absolutely delicious.

The village of Hawes in Wensleydale was also used as the set in the long running popular TV series. "Last of the Summer Wine"

Hawes is a very picturesque village in a particularly beautiful of the country. It's like stepping back in time to the 19th century.
It was well worth the time and effort to visit.

I'll share some photos of the village, region and national park soon.👍

Nobody starts writing a book as their first project. Anybody can start by writing short pieces like this to get to know their 'voice'.
Charles Dickens got his start in writing by making small sketches just like this.

If you want to write stories or take photographs. You have one thing to do. **Just start ** and see where it takes you. The more you write and photograph the more you will hear your voice and find your eye.

Go for it. 👨‍💻👍
