Good afternoon, friends!
On a small and quiet street in the little town of Arzúa, Spain lies a lovely little restaurant, where the food is still prepared with fresh and local ingredients and the service is very friendly and familiar.
It is the Casa Chelo and here you can be sure to be served delicious food, prepared by a couple of old ladies.
On the outside, the place seems nothing special, it's just a normal house with a small board with the name of the place.
Inside, however, the spot is beautiful. It was a very nice surprise to see how well everything was decorated and the ambient was really inviting.
The terrace is covered, so you won't be burnt by the hot sun while still get the experience of eating outside. It feels lovely on a hot Summer day.
Next to the WC I saw these cute cartoon strips on the wall. 😊
The first one says:
"- Let's pass by Casa Chelo. We'll stop for five minutes to replace sugar. I made apple pie."
The bottom cartoon says:
"- Here's north end!! Are we opening the season?"
"- And don't you want a soup first??"
"- OK. What?"
With that mountain of food over the table that guy is still thinking it's not enough? He wants a soup, too? 🤣
Part of the terrace was covered with a white canopy. But the most interesting part was covered by grape vines. Yes, real grape vines! The fruits were still small on this season. But it seems they'll be able to get quite a bunch of grapes at the end of the Summer. 😎
The food was really good... and the prices were surprisingly low. I wasn't counting on such a bargain, considering how well everything tasted.
Now I understand why a few pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela stop at this place, even though it's not on the main street. This is probably a well kept secret being advertised by word of mouth. 🤗
