Out For a Walk
While out for a walk recently we happened upon one of our neighbours pet donkeys and I am not sure what it is about donkeys, but I just cannot walk past them. I always have to go up and have a chat with them and offer them some grass to eat or nuzzle into.
They rarely disappoint and almost always come up for a little look at us random humans and have a sniff and a look to see what's going on.
I guess in many ways they are one of the luckier garden or field animals as they don't tend to end up on somebody's plate eventually which can often be the case for the less fortunate calves, lambs and other farm animals. Donkeys are almost always pets and long before they were pets in Ireland they were workers too and sights like these were common place, especially on the West coast of Ireland where they helped poor farmers who could not afford a horse to do jobs around the farm.
The photos above are courtesy of https://seatrails.ie/, but the rest are all my own. I hope you enjoy seeing all the donkeys.
Cutest donkey ever??
Seeing as how we are on the topic of donkeys, I simply have to share these photos of perhaps the cutest donkey ever. You decide... Come on, look at those ears!!
Cuteness of epic proportions right there my friends.
It's not just the eyes either, look at those big chocolatey brown eyes. Butter wouldn't melt..
The little furry bundle of joy even came right over beside me and the family allowed it, without kicking off. Sure who wants two hind legs from a jackass square in the jawbone? Certainly not I!
The meadow where they were feeding was fairly photogenic in it's own right as the flora and fauna of Conamara coalesced beautifully.
Over she came for a good auld snif.
At this stage all the attention had her tired and hungry and off she went for a little bite to eat courtesy of Mammy.
