A Pregnancy Tale (First Time Momma)
My mixed breed Persian x Siamese cat just gave birth! It was Friday morning (September 30) when Bebu began clawing her dad's bag pack and seemingly wanted to go inside. I didn't think much about it coz she usually does it from time to time. She's just clingy to her dad. We removed the bag from her reach and her dad cuddled her. It calmed her down so the thought of her being in labor wasn't on my mind.
Cuddling has been their morning routine. She would usually wake her dad around 5am every morning so he could cuddle her while drinking coffee.
So the day went off normally and I didn't think much when Bebu started acting weird. She started scratching the bolster pillow on the side of our bed and she slept all day beside me. I counted her pregnancy and I thought she would be due in two more weeks. But I guess I was wrong.
When my boyfriend got home that day Bebu meowed incessantly at his feet begging him to carry her and would refused to let him pit her down. So we locked her in the room when we were eating so she wouldn't bother us. When we were done we entered the room and saw that Bebu's tummy was doing this big wavy movements.
That's when I realized she's in labor the whole morning! I quickly told my boyfriend to get a blanky for Bebu and to not leave her side coz she's begging him to pet her. She would also follow him around!
We gave her a blanky to lie since she refused to get on her bed and the box that's meant for her labor was thrashed by my other cat.
After 30 minutes or so Bebu became erratic. She didn't know what to do and she also began screaming bloody hell. It was my first time seeing a cat screaming while in labor and I had a ton of cat pregnancies in my life. She's clearly in pain so I got a little scared coz her momma died a few months ago because her baby didn't come out of her tummy. I thought it's gonna happen to her too! Luckily it didn't!
Bebu run to the restroom as if she thought it was just poop coming out of her. So her first baby was born on the restroom!
Meet Uling (Charcoal) Bebu's first born! It's a boy! And no, I didn't touch him immediately. He was wet on the rest room coz Bebu left him there. I used a clean cloth to handle him and cajoled Bebu to clean him up. When I touched him Bebu already locked him clean.
After giving birth to Uling, another 30 minutes passed before she let out a more blood curdling screaming. We had a hard settling her after the first baby because she kept on meowing at her papa's feet wanting him to carry her. But we know that won't do coz she's still in labor. I was literally praying all the way for her to be okay. Coz I could really see that she's in pain. I also could my ver friend and she said as long as she can pop the baby out she'll be okay.
The next baby is Zorro because of the cute mark around his face like a mask. But instead of black its white! It is so cute! And yes it's another boy!
After Zorro came out it was about 5 minutes when the placenta came out of Bebu and I really thought she only has two babies. Though another yelping cry came 20 minutes after the placenta came out. And the third baby was born.
Sorry if it is too graphic. It is when the placenta came and Bebu started eating it. That's when I thought she's already done giving and have two healthy baby boys.
Tangerine came last. At first glance I already saw that he's so small. After the other two kittens found its way to Bebu's milk, Tangerine was still at lost. I already knew he couldn't nurse. Luckily I have a small bottle ready and goats milk. But still the baby somehow couldn't swallow the milk. And so yesterday, Sunday (October 2), Tangerine died. We came back after church to a already cold body. It was so sad. bebu kept looking for him.
Bebu is so thirsty and tired after giving birth I gave her water.
And that's the story of Bebu's first time giving birth. I really do hope she's okay after loosing Tangerine. I hope she doesn't have PTSD (Animals do get them too. And I
I saw it multiple time on cat momma's who lose their babies.) I also wish Uling and Zorro grows healthy.
Until next time. Peace out!
