A Quick Walk To The Park
I must say that the pandemic had given a toll to everyone especially children. One of these are my nephews and niece. They are the kids of my third brother (4th child).
Back in 2018 my brother moved his wife and by then two sons from Manila to Laguna in their newly acquired home. They were formerly renting a two bedroom apartment in Taguig and let's just say it's not child friendly. So he decided to loan a house in Pag-ibig (A Government Organization) to make a more suitable home for his kids. And they were happy, the kids freely roam the streets making friends for the first time. They were having a blast when suddenly COVID struck in 2020.
The kids were confined in the four corners of their house unable to go outside and meet their friends. And now almost three years later, they were still skeptical to go outside. The younger son who is seven (7) even developed 'shyness' towards talking to other people.
So whenever I have the time, I go visit the kids in their home. (Sometimes my brother nags me to do it. Lol. Their house are wayyyy into the wilderness. JK it's just too faraway) And walking to the park is something they look forward everytime I visit.
Not even an hour to their house and this not so little kid would beg to go outside.
The kids were homeschooled for almost three years due to the pandemic. And having a new baby, their mom usually don't have the energy to chase kids running on the street. And my brother and his wife still have some reservation for COVID since they caught it last year.
In return, the only time the kids would go out are the times I visit them. About thrice or twice a month.
The kids would run to the clubhouse with huge smiles on their place. They don't bring toys, it's like they are just happy seeing the outside world.
That's why when I visited last week, the walk to the park is the most awaited thing.
How can you not moss those smiles on their faces. After I took that last picture, they even roll on the grass!
When we go outside they just run around chasing one another and shouting stories about the forest and wild animals. I think they are imagining they are inside a forest.
I forced them to take pictures hahaha
They don't even want to sit down when I said I was tired and so I said we just take few pictures and they could run again.
After awhile we decided to head down to the playground so the little wee one could try the slide.
Look at the two boys enjoying the slide
Funny enough, it was the brothers who enjoyed the slide. The was to afraid to get down and I'm too big to go with her.
I think Yuri (the eldest) was around 5 the last time we played in a playground.
They were so heartbroken when I requested for us to go home already. But fret not we went out again the afternoon.
They enjoyed outside so much, Im just happy looking at them. Playing outside is nice with growing kids, it strengthens their bones and muscles. Plus it helps shed extra weight. It also molds their lungs.
And so if you have a kid who's always in the corner with their gadgets, maybe it's the time to drag them outside and spend some time with them?
That's all for today folk, thank you. Peace out! ❤️✌️
