Designing The Earth Dominion Card

Note:
This were just abilities concept for the upcoming Dominion set that I made using Adobe Photoshop and Firefly for the Image and was not an official Splinterlands Card design.

For those that didn't know, there was another Splinterlands contest that everyone in the community can participate. It was the TPG Weekly Challenge that was a unofficial contest initiated by @thepeoplesguild. Although votes were not always guaranteed, the topics were interesting enough and allows the community to be more creative with their content creation as well as all participants can also get a really cool badge.

One of its previous challenge involves creating a card design for the Dominion set which is supposed to replace Gladiator cards and this includes designing the stats and abilities of the cards. Although the challenge has already ended, I still have yet to show the design I made for the Earth element within my entries so I though I would make another post that not only showcase the card but also will detail my creation process but before that, let me first show you my entries for the TPG challenge which is divided into 3 parts.

Dominion Part 1:

The first part of the challenge involves the creation of new abilities that will focus on team-wide benefits, setting them apart from the self-focused Bloodlust ability of the Gladius cards and my entries were:

  • Prominence Flame - For every opponent that the domineer defeats, temporarily increase the speed of all ally units by +2 that would last for 2 turns capped at 4 speed.

  • Torrential Wave - For every opponent that the domineer defeats, temporarily reduce the speed of all opponent units by +2 that would last for 2 turns capped at 4 speed.

  • Gaia's Protection - For every opponent that the domineer defeats, increase the armor of all ally units by +1 capped at 5. The armor that gains through this ability will be lost once the Domineer was defeated.

  • Curse of The Banshee - For every opponent that the domineer defeats, inflicts 1 damage on all opponent units equals to the amount of hit that the target receives from the Domineer capped to 3 damage.

  • Beacon of Life - For every opponent that the domineer defeats, increase the health of all ally units by +1 capped at 5. The health that gains through this ability will be lost once the Domineer was defeated.

  • Dragon Force - For every opponent that the domineer defeats, temporarily increase all the stats of all ally units by +1 and give non-flying units the Flying ability effective for 2 turns with the stat boost capped at 3.

  • Dominion Part 2:

On this challenge, the task was to create 3 Domineer Cards with 2 commons and 1 legendary including their stats and abilities. In my post, I also included the cards lore and a detailed breakdown of each cards stats by level so feel free to visit my post or by clicking the subtitle.

Now that I have shown you my previous dominion abilities and card design, I can finally introduce you with my last domineer card which belongs to the Earth element as well as how I made the card.

Designing the Earth Dominion Card

Just like with my previous designs, my goal is to design a card that is as close as possible with the official cards anatomy and for that, I take Luceheim Demon for a reference but it can be any cards that belongs in the Rebellion as it was the most modern set that we have. After that, I placed the card in the frame to make a 1:1 comparison, including the resizing of images. After that, I took the Earth element background image as well as the element Icon and the A.I. art that was made from adobe firefly and placed it to the card. Once done, I goes back with my reference card in order to add the stat icon and the stat numbers and size them the same with the reference card.

Following that, I made the experience bar together with the name of the card then finish it by hiding the reference. On the video, I kind of forgot to edit the card level and only edit it while making this post.

EVERGREEN WOODLAND

Evergreen Woodland.png

Lore:



"Forest Dryads, along with the Wood Nymphs serves as the guardians that protects the ley lines and boundaries that separate the Splinterlands from the Fey Plane, deep within the ancient forest of the Blackmoor Basin and so was the task that was given to Evergreen Woodland as soon as she sprouts within the elder tree but as she grows up, she became more and more curious with the outside world. So when she got the opportunity, she asked the Spirit of the Forest to allow her to explore the outside world and surprisingly, she was given a permission. From here on, Evergreen Woodland will experience lots of different adventures and meet different types of people which soon will become her important comrades as part of the Dominion"

Abilities

  • Scattershot: This monster's attacks hit a random enemy target.

  • Gaia's Protection: For every opponent that the domineer defeats, increase the armor of all ally units by +1 capped at 5. The armor that gains through this ability will be lost once the Domineer was defeated.

  • Poisont: Attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied.

  • Divine Shield: The first time the Monster takes damage it is ignored.

Brawl Synergy

As a card that is only available for brawl battles, Evergreen Woodland could serve as an alternative for Acid Shooter specially during Odd Ones Out ruleset as she can randomly throw Poison with the help of *Scattershot *as soon as she reached level 3 and being a range unit, this card will benefit more if used along Risqruel Drath by having +1 additional range damage as well as the Flying ability that would reduce the chance for her to be hit by attacks. She also has the Gaia's Protection ability which will increase the armor of all allied units for every opponents that she defeats that will last for 2 rounds duration.
