In Vancouver for a couple of weeks during January to February every year there is a Dine Out festival where many restaurants in Metro Vancouver offer special set menus for prices up to $65 for 3 courses. It's a great deal for customers to try new restaurants for lunch and dinner at a more affordable price and it's good for restaurants too to get more customers in what traditionally should be a quiet period. People are hesitant to spend loads of money after the cost of Christmas and New Year celebrations. This year it ran from January 22nd to February 9th. Some restaurants extend it for another week.

One of the restaurants we tried was Lila on Main Street, an Indian/South Asian restaurant which was really delicious. The curry dishes are precisely my type of food as a vegetarian but not really for my spouse as she doesn't like that type of food much.
I had never eaten jackfruit before so that was fun to try, it had a meaty based texture and was really good.

@fortune1m, sorry to see that you have less Hive Power.
Your level lowered and you are now a Minnow!

Jackfruit is one of the top three produced fruits in my home country, Bangladesh. I prefer the curry version of Jackfruit with such masala to the juicy one when it is ripe. It is not the summer and jackfruit is a fruit of summer, so it is not common in Canada like here in Beijing. I hope you like it. Thanks for sharing.

I buy it here in Thailand from time to time (I was told that it lowers blood pressure a little) That's why I started using it (at first I didn't really like it, but now it's a tasty snack for me) I use it raw and until today I didn't know that it can also be cooked! 👍

I keep wondering about this jackfruit food. We have the fruit here but we have never thought of using it for soup 😅
