Last week we got this '62 beetle into our garage and started work on getting the wheels and fenders off to see what we're working with.
This car has sat in the condition you see it in now for at least 8 years, but had been being worked on. Before this photo was taken we took the hood off and removed the gas tank and got as much rust out of it as I could.
Removed the first wheel and it all looks really good. The brake here is actually locked up and does not move freely like it should. (that's for another time)
Taped up wire ends to to try to start the motor without frying anything.
All the wheel wells look really really clean.
Labeling wires that I could match to the color coding
All really really clean except for the bare wires going to the headlights.
3 of the 4 fenders need some love (one is new)
A few times hitting this dent with a small hammer got it almost straight.
The corner dings are going to be a different story.
I've got some pretty good help ;)
Thank god for the internet and color coding. I do want to try to figure out this wiring but we will probably just be replacing all of it as alot of them are faded and brittle being 60 years old.
If anyone has any tips or tricks let me know in the comments!
Thanks for stopping by!
