You Don't Always Get What You Want...

If there's a single somewhat consistent thing in life, perhaps it is that we don't always get the things we were hoping for.

I once heard a piece of wisdom along the lines of "Life isn't about what happens to you, it's about what you DO about it!"

Which — for most of us — mean having to become skilled at the art of the "pivot."

If I had a dollar for every occasion in life when I found myself having to pivot... I probably wouldn't be sitting here, writing a blog post about the importance of pivoting!

Of course some of the constant need to pivot likely comes from making choices that are unpredictable and have a substantial likelihood of failure.

Recently, I wrote about expectations and how they often seem out of whack, compared to the reality of the world. In a sense it sometimes seems like people expect the world to pivot to fit their desires, rather than they pivot to adjust to a changing world.

As I look towards 2025, I realize the need to pivot because one of my customer bases is — quite literally — aging out and slowly dying, with far fewer people actually joining the industry.

Another pivot will happen because the resource market has dried up... mostly as a result of human greed.

I had a good thing going and definitely didn't want to change what I was doing... but so it goes!

Who knows what 2025 will bring? Without a doubt, something will have to change... one door closes, which means another opens.

Or so the wisdom goes...

All I know is that I will have to pivot again and find some new direction that will help fund the shortfall left by two declining ventures. Probably won't be anything particularly exciting, given that I tend to choose the tried and true, rather than the cutting edge.

But who knows, maybe I will get what I want!

For now, I shall just keep plugging away at what is already here, and hope it's enough to pay the bills for a while.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead!

Thank you!

The art of the pivot should be a course taught in elementary school lol....it is a worthy skill to master. I hope you do get what you want!

Definitely a worthy lesson because you truly can't expect anything to turn out as expected or promised!

Yes, the resource market is drying up because of human greed. Greed has wasted our resources

Greed has caused a lot of damage in this world... often in the name of "free enterprise."
