When we bought our Upstate New York property back in 1980, we had no idea how truly valuable this land would become as the years passed by. Year after year as we cleared the land, we found invaluable resources. Natural springs were uncovered giving us liquid blue gold. We harnessed the springs as well as the surface water by building a pond and drilling a well. Water is life.

Without lifting a finger to plant berries, all I have to do is harvest. Yup, all the berries in this post are wild. These strawberries took over a flower bed in our front yard, there are tons of them.

In about a month, I will be harvesting blackberries and raspberries that live just a few steps away on our land.

In another week or two, I will be in the forest harvesting blueberries, my favorite. When they are ready, @thebigsweed and I will go out to pick every morning, it sounds easy to just pick fruit, but it can be exhausting leaving us with achy arms and sore feet.

YET... SO WORTH IT !!

Ah, I remember the thorns of the black berries, as they taught me to wear gloves when I pick them. You certainly have a great property and I know that you guys look after it very well.

Gloves are a must!

I learned that the hard way šŸ¤£ !LOLZ

Oh Zak, we are so blessed here, nature is beautiful, and food is abundant. It takes work and dedication to grow what we do but it is so worth it.

I wish you all those blessings also.

Oh yes, Lady Robin, we saw multiple times how you and Rob work the land, and all of your activities to cultivate and protect the place. It is so true when they say that one gets out what one puts in, and you guys do exactly that. So, all of your efforts are blessed.

I do believe we reap what we sow. So far this season things have done really well, so it's great to see all our work has been rewarded. We are truly blessed.

Hope you and Marian are well, blessings to you both.

Oh yes, you are wise enough to believe in it and I admire you guys for all of your hard work.

We are well thank you and we send our prayers to you.

!PIZZA !LOLZ and heaps of !LUV

Hi @farm-mom, I love berries šŸ˜. Those strawberries look spectacular šŸ˜„, love your photos of the fruits from your farm. Best of luck, hope I make it in time to post something. Love from Venezuela.

Love right back at ya

I love blueberries too! In my elementary school days, I would venture into the forests, just to get my hands.... and my tongues on them.

Oh, for sure, blue tongues for days. hahahašŸ˜„

Make some blueberry syrup. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

We already make maple syrup from our trees; we save the blueberries for pancakes when the grandkids come to town. They love 'em.

PIZZA!

Uh... this is good šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹ I have them here also in forest šŸ¤šŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ŒšŸ˜‹ā˜•

Nature is amazing, providing us with luscious fruit and veggies. The birds also thrive from this abundance.

Glad you stopped by, have a blessed day.

Weā€™ve got a few areas nearby that have wild raspberries and blueberries itā€™s wonderful! Iā€™m glad that youā€™ve got them as well! Wild strawberries are cool but Iā€™ve not seen them yet here. The bunnies would likely grab them first haha

Same things hear with the strawberries, the bunnies love them and so do the birds, but there's abundance this year so everyone is happy.

Abundance in nature your truly are blessed now able to make jams and preservatives that will carry through the lean months.

Sardines landed a few kilometers up from us, this will feed so many people in our region, approximately 600 crates Isipingo Beach today in one net, surprise big food delivery.

From FB groups, this was our beach a couple of days ago, today Isipingo Beach.

Hey Joan, the fishing sounds awesome. When I hear sardines, I think of my dad eating these tiny fish out of a can. I have to check out FB and other sources to get a better idea of these fish.

Berry season is upon us, and I do plan on making jelly and sauces from these tiny gifts from Mother Nature.

Have a great day my friend.

Sardines on toast with chopped onion and tomato are delicious, tiny fish full of flavour!

Berries you picking around the home are expensive here, I simply cannot help myself when on our shelves !LOLZ

I may give your recipe a try, I read that they are great for brain health

Nice change for breakfast or lunch, taking in omega 3.

Wow, went to FB, I can't believe the number of fish being netted, it made me smile.

Apparently yesterday they had a massive netting of approximately 600 crates off Isipingo Beach. Word sent out into communities to bring whatever they could to take. Feeding the locals who desperately need it!

It's just unbelievable to me, I have never seen such a harvest of fish. It's just wonderful.

Crates sold to recoup expense, boat, petrol and crew, excess handed to poor who require food. Fishermen from shoreline cast out in hope of landing larger game fish following, many do, some will sell to hotels or private.

19.. I didn't know Upstate was a state in the 1900's. My geography teacher missed that one. Or maybe it was history.

Is it still ok to say that? History.

Sorry friend, I am not following you, I thought I may have written 1880.
History still is around, I think.

I have a history of forgetting things, how about you

Can't remember what the heck I was gonna say right here farm-mom but it was perfect.

So, we are both a little puffy this morning, now that's perfect hehehehje
