This is my post for #freewriters 2478 prompt flattened ego hosted by @mariannewest.

Neither of us had a good day. Since the weed eater broke yesterday I decided that I would put some weed killer around the pots of our smallest areca palms. The sky was clear and we did not get any rain yesterday and it never rains in the morning. I mixed up a gallon and sprayed one area of the small pots and some bad weeds around the Jack in the Beanstalk tree. I wanted to spray around the small areas that are outside of our fence so I was getting ready to mix up some more when I looked at the sky to the southeast, it had turned dark. I came inside and got on the internet, sure enough, there was several rain clouds coming my way and they were building as they came, so I did not mix anymore. The weed killer is supposed to not get water on it for 4 hours after spraying so I pretty much wasted a gallon of it.

RAH, RAH, RAH, GRRRR, that is what my husband sounded like when he came home. The very first words he said were, DID IT RAIN HERE 4 TIMES? I told him I did not know how many times, but it had been raining. Then he said, did you spray the weed killer, I said yes I did. He says she got you, too. Mother Nature is out to get us, she is saying, no you will not catch my fish and no you will not kill my weeds. I did not want to give him a flattened ego of thinking he knew what Mother Nature was doing other than giving us rain, so I said nothing.

Then he goes on to tell me all the things that went bad. I do not know what I was thinking when I thought I wanted to go on the boat with him. He said he was running for Black Point so he could get under the mangroves because he knew he did not have time to make it to the ramp before the storm got to him, as he ran across the shallow water he hit a Bullshark with his boat, Bullsharks are not usually on shallow water. He pulled into the shoreline and got his rain gear out of the dry box on his boat. As he picked the jacket up a roach jumped off of it, (the man hates a roach), he opened the jacket to put it on and saw a lot of black dots, the inside was full of roach poop. He is now grossed out but shakes it the best he can and has to put it on. While he sat there with a roach poop rain jacket on, waiting for the thunder, lightning, and rain to quit he said he saw 3 different Bull sharks swimming up and down the shoreline, we have never seen them doing that. I think they were there because under the mangroves is the only place fish have to hide since the seagrass died.

He saw a break in the storms so headed to Charlie's dock so he could put the 40 bait that he had left away but before he could get there another storm developed and the boat ramp was closer so he went there and came home with the bait still in his boat. He was in such a bad mood when he got home that he said he was going to take the bait down to the community dock and dump them in the river and tomorrow he was pulling all of his traps out of the river. But after getting a shower to get the roach poop off he calmed down and took his bait to Charlie's dock so he could put it in his holding pen. He caught 14 pounds of trout but could only fish until 10AM, he might have had a good day if not for the storms, but that is fishing, which he should understand.
