Back in the early 1990s something kept nagging at me to go to the Main Street thrift store, this feeling kept up for 3 days so I went. We had wanted a computer but we could not afford one. There it was for 25 dollars I got a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and a computer for dummies book.
When I got it home and plugged it in, it said it was locked. I was so mad that I spent that much money and could not use it. My oldest son came into the house and saw we were having trouble and looked at it. He figured out to take it apart and unplug the wire that went to the lock. I could not believe that it was that easy of a fix. When it came up, it even had quick books on it, which is a program for business. It was what people now call an old school computer with a monitor that looked like a small TV.
Our first computer is the one on the top left.
This photo only shows a few of the old school computers that I have. Years ago my husband and I went to the county auction. They had an old cabinet that looked like it came out of a conference room, It is long and about as high as a desk and has two sliding doors on the front, and it is solid wood and HeAvY, I wanted it but you had to buy everything that was on the pallet. It was stacked full of old computers and monitors, keyboards, and lots of other electronic things. I bid one dollar and no one bid against me. When we were loading them in the truck I saw they were all from the Sebastian police dept, I checked when I got home, they took the hard drives out.
I have been wanting to get rid of things but every time I try to get rid of them, something stops me, it is like the nagging feeling to go to the thrift store, that same feeling tells me to hang onto them.
So in the spare room, I made shelves with them. The monitors are on the bottom, I have two tall towers and a board across them. I covered them with old window curtains. If I was going to keep them, they might as well be useful. Since I took this picture, I have built onto this one making it longer. It made a nice place to store all of my canning jars.
