This is my post for #freewriters 2542 prompt death comes to tea hosted by @mariannewest

She walked the beach as the tide began to fall

image.png

She found a shell that reminded her of a rose,

image.png
then a piece of coral with a hole,

image.png
and a clamshell that was big enough to be a bowl.

image.png

She kept them all, why? She had no clue.
The sand was getting hot so to the water she trot,
the waves washed away the sand and cooled her feet.

image.png

Now she was thirsty but she didn't think to bring a drink.
The sand was too hot to walk back to her car. She would need to wait until the sun started to set.

image.png

After the storms and all of the rain, the ocean looked like tea
dare she take a sip?
Her thirst would not quit. was it fresh enough to drink?

image.png

Her thirst grew, and her mind was not right. She scooped some water with her clamshell and took a sip. It was not bad, but it was not good, she thought how can I make it better?

image.png

She stood looking at the sun and began singing death comes to tea please don't let it come to me.

The tea is weak, and it is cold and smells like toads. I will sit my coral in the sun, it will make it hot, I will put it in the clamshell with my drink and I can drink through the hole, but it still stinks.

That is when she remembered the rose she found, It would make it taste better so she added it. Yes, that is better, she drank and drank, her mind spinning now. She did not feel well.

When they found her she was still singing death comes to tea but not to me, for I drank my rose flavored tea.

They asked where she got the tea, and with a grin she said, the tea came from the sea but there will be no death to me from the tea.

Fascinating, actually ... good story ... so many elements familiar from folklore and even a plant put into bitter water to make it safe ... Exodus comes to mind ...

Her mind was not right, she put the seashell that looked like a rose "to her" in it, not an actual rose. I must not know the folklore you speak about, but I am glad you liked it.

But she also was spared ... it worked like the tree Moses put into the water, and the tree Elisha put into the river to make an axe swim ... and later folklore tales of alchemy, and poison being made safe for those who need special protection ...

I get it, now. thanks

Nice!!! Love this one.

LOL, I had no idea as to what to write with this prompt so I let my fingers write it.
