This is my post for #freewriters 2572 green bag and 2570 strong smell hosted by @mariannewest
I was sitting here thinking about how time has changed from when we used to fish the ocean the first thing my husband did in the morning was listen to his weather radio. It is the same kind of radio that people listen to for tornado reports except we received the Marine report over it. There is a weather buoy 20 miles from the Cape and it would tell if we fished that day or not. If it said winds 10 knots sea 2 to 4, that meant we could fish, but if it said wind is 15 to 20 knots and seas are 3 to 5, this meant it was blowing too hard and there was a swell, so we could not fish the ocean, we stayed in the river.
If we were fishing south of us in Salerno we had a phone number we could call and it would give us the weather conditions from a buoy out from the Salerno Inlet.
Nowadays he gets up looks on his computer and can check the weather anywhere in the world.
I have a green bag that I take fishing or used to take when I could still fish. I got it from the place that fixed my cataract. That was a scary time in my life, by the time I had the surgery, I could not make out people's faces when they were standing a few feet in front of me.
One time I had been fishing and caught a redfish I had Kevin at the fish house clean it and he wrapped it in wax paper for me. The wind blew so there was no fishing for a few days. When the wind died and I opened the door of my truck a strong smell overtook me, that is when I remembered the fish.
