Splinterlands
The Splinterlands battles are tricky and depend on how well we can strategize our gameplay. Personally, I have found it even more tricky to play a low-mana game. Why? Because I have to figure out if I am going to take a few cards with higher mana cost or many cards with lower mana.
Both strategies work but the question is if I’ve got the best strategy or it’s the opponent. How about we see one low-mana battle? But before that, shall we spend a minute getting to know Splinterlands? After all, that’s where you will find all these fun battles, rules, and monsters.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. It was founded in 2018 and is still going strong. The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning. By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling them for as high as $6500. There is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too. And now the sales of the Rebellion packs, the newest of the lot, have also started.

Low Mana Battle
The challenging part of the lower mana battles, as I mentioned earlier, is whether to take lower mana cards or higher mana ones. The problem is further accentuated when we know that the lower mana cards could also have lower health while the higher mana cards will have higher health.
If this is not enough, we still have to think about what if the opponent uses magic attacks with magic attack enhancing summoner while we use lower mana cards? Wouldn’t the magic monsters of the opponent run through our lineup? So, see the permutations and combinations that come up while playing a lower mana game?
That’s what’s tricky as well as interesting about such battles. Now, to the battle.
The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows
Let’s take a look at the rules before we proceed to the battle.
It is a low-mana battle. Anything between twelve and twenty is a low mana battle. All the regular rules are in play. Interestingly, this is one of those battles where all the Splinters are available. That just compounds the problem. ☹😊
The Face-Off Screen
I suspect my predicament is also the opponent’s. To take higher mana cards or not.
Both of us seem to have chosen higher mana cards. My team is at the top of the screen while the opponent’s is at the bottom. I chose the Earth Splinter while the opponent went for the Life Splinter. My cards do have some smaller mana cards but the opponent just has two cards.
From here it looks like my game. But the game ain’t over till it is over.
We Battle Hard
It was the beginning of round 3 and nothing seemed to have moved at all.
That’s partly because the opponent’s tank had magic taking out the shield first, and it was self-healing. So, the opponent’s tank’s health had hardly been affected. On the other hand, my tank was self-healing too and then there was the second magic card which further healed my tank.
That means nothing substantial had happened to either side. Till now, that is. It is just going to get messy from here for one team. I hope it's not mine. 😉
And The Battle Races to Conclusion
The self-healing ability of both tanks took this battle right up to the eighth round.
The double attacks of my tank and the magic attack of my second card eventually took out the opponent’s tank. Thereafter, it was easygoing since the opponent’s second card being a ranged attacker couldn’t do much in the first position.
And that was it. I won!
A Hard-Fought Battle | An Interesting Result
The battle was fun since it was difficult to predict anything. I am just glad that it went my way. But it also highlights what I have said before – high mana monsters or low mana ones. The opponent went all high mana monsters and that did not work out. It is hard to predict how things could go. Anyway, this one was my victory.
I loved the battle. How about you? I hope you enjoyed reading about the battle too. You can also look at it live in the link provided below. Have fun! 😊
Namaste!
