Trump Is Already Attacking the Debate Moderators

Trump prodded Biden for months to debate him, saying he would debate him at any time or anywhere. His team agreed to the terms of the debate, including who the moderators would be, that the microphone for the candidate not speaking would be cut off and that there would be no in-person audience. Now, he has been dismissing the rules and the moderators.

New Photos Show Trump’s ‘Haphazard’ Handling of Boxes

Prosecutors in Donald Trump’s classified documents case released new photos showing what they called the ‘haphazard manner’ in which Trump stored boxes of documents that federal agents seized from Mar-a-Lago in August 2022.

Biden Lowers Prices of 64 Prescription Drugs

The Biden administration on Wednesday said it will impose inflation penalties on 64 prescription drugs for the third quarter of this year, lowering costs for certain older Americans enrolled in Medicare.
President Joe Biden has made lowering U.S. drug prices a key pillar of his health-care agenda and reelection platform for 2024. A provision of Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act requires drugmakers to pay rebates to Medicare, the federal health program for Americans over age 65, if they hike the price of a medication faster than the rate of inflation.

The Supreme Court is off the rails
…“originalism” does not work in practice. Forcing courts to transport us back to the 18th century (before domestic abuse laws, voting rights for women, the industrial age, etc.) creates uncertainty, chaos and horrific results. If we insist on locking in gun rights in 1791 and due process in 1868, we will have an America that virtually no one wants to live in, a legal system that is unworkable and a society in which disfavored groups lose progress made over centuries.

Donald Trump Has Only One Debate Mode

It’s been more than eight years since Trump first set foot on a debate stage as a presidential candidate. Through the slog of the 2016 primary, to one-on-one matchups with a former Secretary of State and a former Vice President, Trump’s behavior has veered from playful and rakish to angry and unhinged. But the general throughline—beyond the perpetual lying—has been his inclination to retreat to bullying whenever he feels even remotely threatened.
This is the Trump that uses his precious little debate time to call Hillary Clinton ‘a nasty woman,’ and ‘the devil,’ or belittle Joe Biden with jabs like ‘you graduated either the lowest or almost the lowest in your class.’
And it’s the Trump we are likely to see at least glimpses of on Thursday.

Tories Slip Further Amid Betting Row

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives continued their slide in Bloomberg’s UK poll of polls as the betting scandal enveloping the party widens.
With eight days to go until the general election, the governing party plumbed new depths on 20.2% in the Bloomberg composite, a rolling 14-day average using data from 11 polling companies. Labour rose a fraction to 41.2%, pushing their lead over the Tories to 21 points. It suggests party leader Keir Starmer remains on track to take the keys of 10 Downing Street after the July 4 vote.
