Election Eve...

in #inleolast month

So it's finally the evening before the General Election and the party leaders have been out and about making their final pitches...

So where are we, besides totally bored of the whole thing....?

Sunak seems to have switched from 'bold policies' like National Service to just being critical of Labour, trying to convince us we'll see a tax increase under them.

As for Labour, they seem to just be dead set on steering a middle path, nothing exciting, nothing particularly new, just 'middle of the road' business as usual, basically the Tories continued.

I think that's the thing.... the Tories have been so chaotic over the past 4 years, caused so much damage, ironically most if BEFORE Sunak, that now Labour is probably going to win based on just doing the same as what Sunak's been doing, more or less.

Nothing radical

That's the thing about these two main parties - they are 90% THE SAME in their policy agendas. They both know there is very little wiggle room for either tax cuts or tax rises, that expenditure needs to be roughly where it is across all government departments, ideally increased a little, but there's no way to pay for it becuase we can't afford it!

Hence we have an election of bland.

And the other parties...?

I honestly couldn't tell you. There's not a lot of point given that this is a two horse race!

The greens are bit more left I know that, the Lib Dems seems to have become the comedy party under Ed Davy with all his media gimmicks, and Reform are racist.

The most depressing thing about this whole election is that even with the knowledge of the racist and sexist culture in Reform, it's hardly dented voter intentions.....

Snacks for Thursday night....

I'll vote tomo, and then get some snacks and tune into the election coverage from 21.55 I think, there's not football on, I wonder if that was planned? May as well enjoy the spectacle, I think Labour are shoe-in for victory but I somehow think it might not be a mega-majority, just a comfortable one!

I'm pretty curious how it turns out, although a Labour victory seems highly likely. It seems like none of the options are ideal though. I just hope the new government will get stuff done in a better way than the current one...

Well they can't do a lot worse!

😂

We did the same thing a few weeks ago! Vote, get snacks, stare at tv screen with fingers crossed! 😂
Unfortunately, the result was pretty extreme right…

Oh shit. Where are you...?

We have had enough of the word "tax" here in my country. Seems taxing is the best solution for the politicians during the economic crisis.

Although here it's a dirty word in politics!

All the politicians who are there come to us for votes and then we don't even see them for five whole years.

BBC was talking about an outside chance that the Lib Dems might end up as the opposition.

With so many constituencies in play, might Reform’s percentage of seats end up much smaller than their percentage of votes?

Possible - it's mostly a two horse race with lib dems the tactical anti tory party in some areas. Reform simply isn't that popular anywhere!

So long as the Tories lose and that for me is the crux of it. Will their replacement be any better or even different, let’s see.

Fair! Getting them out defo the priority!

I hope the line up to vote is not too long!

Shld not be by the time I get there!

In my opinion, the whole social system is currently at the limits of its resistance. It has nowhere to grow. Just as the slave order, the feudal order, has come to an end, so too has the present social order. The bad thing is that the end of these periods has always been accompanied by ugly events. Who knows what will happen next.

Whatever's next I don't think it's gonna be pretty!

I wonder what surprises are in store tomorrow night. The Tories have been so bad that Labour have to be better, but I hope they can be more radical than they seem.

I think we're a way off yet, it'll be more of the same, another two or three global crisis may induce radical, unfortunately I think it'll be more the way of France than anything else. Then it's downhill from there!
