I'm all about that kindness and good vibes.

"Expectation reduces Joy" I have learned about this theory pretty early in my life. It simply reflect that, if we expect something, inevitably we will be disappointed or the joy we will get out of it will be reduced. In our holy book Gita, Lord Krishna stated that :

"Do your duty, don't worry about the result".

It means that while doing work, one should perform the duty without worrying about the result. The reasons behind this statement is that, whatever action is done, its result is received whether one wants it or not. In any case, even after continuous efforts, if desired success is not achieved, one should not be sad and disappointed. One should perform work without any attachment towards its results and with the intention of offering it to God. Work done selflessly is charity, and charity is the ultimate religion. Selfishness is reflected in the desire for reward.

The point of highlighting these lesson is to point out the fact that any good deeds should never be done in hope of any reward or appreciation. Some say that true gratitude should not involve expecting something in return for doing a favor. The act of doing good itself can trigger feelings of satisfaction and gratitude, also known as a "helper's high". The goal is to feel good and create a cycle of goodness. Studies suggest that acts of kindness can improve well-being, support networks, and self-esteem. Doing good for others can trigger the brain's pleasure centers and lead to feelings of satisfaction and gratitude.

Lead with kindness

Feeling unappreciated can be a uniquely human experience that can lead to a range of negative emotions. When people don't acknowledge your efforts, it can make you feel taken for granted and undervalued, as if you're being overlooked. This can lead to feelings of:

  • Inadequacy and worthlessness
  • Stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Lowered self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Isolation and loneliness
  • Resentment and anger

In my case, I never expected a word of appreciation or something in return. It usually happens many a times that my "good deed" remain unnoticed. Everyone feels unappreciated at times, and it's okay to give people a break for not expressing gratitude. Being a common man, I do feel resentment. But my upbringing never allows me to do things which would make me feel remorse. Such things will never stop me from doing my karma.

People mindset

On the contrary it is important for people to learn appreciating. It does not cost much. Appreciation can help people feel valued and energized, and can increase the likelihood that they will invest more in their work. Expressing gratitude can have benefits for both individuals and society:

Motivation: Appreciation can motivate others to go the extra mile, and people who are thanked may be more likely to help others in the future.

Relationships: Expressing gratitude can help build trust with others. People who give recognition are also better liked and perceived as more innovative.

Mental and physical health: Expressing gratitude is linked to improved physical and mental health.

Appreciation can help us to become more humble. It is upto us how to carry forward the good deeds in our own way and remain a gentleman.

How true your words are about appreciation, and how good it can make people feel. Doing good without expecting anything in return, I love that!😃

Thanks... I was brought up like this. Not sure how effective these are in today's time, but expectation for good deeds is not what defines kindness.

That's called being good people and that's very important.

Yes I am trying to be good as much as possible....to void witches curses.😜

since we know that kindness does not necessarily mean we will receive appreciation, let continue our kind works

Not everyone knows how to appreciate kindness but that notwithstanding, we would always do good 😊

That what I wanted to highlight. If we expect appreciation in returns then it doesn't be called kindness.
