THINGS DO'NT HAPPEN BY MAGIC -Weekend-experiences #236

Good evening my wonderful friends, happy weekend to you all. Today I will be sharing insight on one of the #weekend-engagement topics

"Things don't happen by magic, it takes many things including determination to make an achievement. What have you achieved through sheer determination, what steps did you take, how did you deal with setbacks and what did you learn along the way?"

When I read through the weekend engagement post, it made me reflect on my life in the last two years and where I am now, I just had to smile.

Of a truth, things do not just happen by magic or by chance, nothing will change till you are determined to make it change.
Everything is centered on your determination but before you are determined something first has to change and that is YOUR MINDSET. Before you achieve anything in life you need a transformed mindset, you need to think outside the box, set goals and consistently put in effort to attain your set goal.

A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. -Colin Powell - Just as Colin Powell rightly said making your dream a reality does not require magic You need to work it out. I would love to share my story with you all.

While I was still in secondary school, I had always wanted to become a medical doctor, all I desired was to pursue a medical profession. After my WEST AFRICAN SECONDARY SCHOOL EXAMINATION (WASSCE) in the year 2020, there was no money to purchase JAMB form that same year so I had to wait till the next year, JAMB exams is an exams that qualifies a person to be admitted to tertiary institution. I felt sad because my all my friends bought JAMB form and were admitted into tertiary institutions.

The following year, God made a way and I was able to register for the exams, I had to prepare and study hard so I could pass and also be admitted like my friends. After the exams, the result was out but it was below my expectation, my JAMB score was actually high (236) but it was not high enough for me to secure an admission into the course I wanted to study.

I was so depressed, I was confused with lots of thoughts on what to do, I thought of changing my course to anatomy or physiology but I had to make a hard choice by letting the score away. I knew what I wanted and I was willing to give it another try not minding the fact that my friends are ahead of me. It was really a hard decision but I was determined to get what I wanted.

The following year again which was 2022, I registered for the exams again, this time I had to put in extra effort, I studied and studied because I need to achieve what I wanted this time. I remember refusing to travel to my uncle's place for Christmas just because I needed to work hard ahead of my exams. The exams came and I wrote it, all thanks to God that I scored higher this time (295).

I was overwhelmed with joy that I just could not wait to be given admission. I told my friend about it, she told me that securing admission in medicine and surgery in my institution is really difficult except you have connection and money to bribe your way in, she told me that she equally scored high too but she was denied admission. I became so sad because I never had connection, I never had money, I felt like letting go, I wanted changing my course to pharmacy.

I had to go to school and meet other medical students to ask questions, the told me that they can not assure me or guarantee me getting admission with my score but I should just give it a try. I had to be patient though I was very anxious, and one day I checked in my CAPS and my status changed to Admission In progress. I leaped for joy and It was already seeming like a dream come true, finally I was admitted to study medicine and surgery which had always been my dream course.

After admission, it was not over, I had some other role to play, we were about 300 in our department, the population was already much and they needed to drop some people who fail after their first year exams. This was like another challenge because I needed pass all my year one courses with A's and B's to be on a better side. I studied hard with lots of sleepless nights but thank God my effort wasn't a waste, I finally made it to my preclinical class and I'm glad I did not let go despite the hurdles.

My journey so far has taught me lots of things; patience, diligence, determination and of all perseverance. Nothing happens by magic, make up your mind to be intentional with what you want to achieve, put in diligent effort and do not give, it will always work out, and the change you desire will definitely happen.

Thank you friends for stopping by
I love you all, remember, NEVER GIVE UP.
