Today is the most important festival of the year for me. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in a big way in my home every year. We have elaborate rituals by bringing Lord Ganesh home for 2 days and the day is spent in Prayers and rituals with guests coming home almost all through out the day to seek blessings. I am on a very crunched schedule today so I am going to keep this post short.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10 days festival in total, where we have a ritual of brining lord Ganesha home for days that we feel we can do the rituals. Some people do it for all 10 days, some 2, some 3, 5 or 7. I have been doing these rituals since the past 9 years in my home and before that I would attend at my sister's place. Lord Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles from life and he is also the god of wisdom and new beginnings. Ganesha Chaturthi is the day which marks the birth of Lord Ganesha.
For me personally there is a deep impact of his presence in my life and home. There was a time in my life when I felt my life was absolutely going nowhere and it was filled only with obstacles. There were only problems and problems and that time my sister invited me to her home for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. I attended, took part in all the rituals and wished that time that the obstacles in my life are eased out and I can find my way forward in life. After returning back from my sister's place, my life took a turn like some big miracle, slowly gradually by itself there were solutions coming forth. Everything was getting eased out and I just could not believe that all those years of struggles were suddenly dissolving with so much ease. It was like some kind of magic happening. And from that time my faith in Lord Ganesha has been unwavering.
So here are some pictures from today morning rituals.
Getting his seat ready
He is ready to be placed
After placing him, I put some ornaments on him.
It's all done
Such a good feeling it is to do these rituals and celebrate the festival. Days before I start the preparations and finally when the day arrives it feels like everything happens so fast and gets over.
Here's wishing all my friends a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi. Tomorrow I will write more about how we celebrate it with devotional hymns with friends and family. Evening my home will be filled up with guests, right now I have to do all the preparations for the evening. Bye for now.
