Time is not just money. If it would have been just money, you wouldn't need to optimize it as much.
But It is also relationships, self care, entertainment, recreation, exploration and a lot of other things.
Efficiently managing time has the potential to improve your life in a multiple ways.
And content creators are more prone to poor utilization of their hours. I know it because I am the one. And I have wasted so many of them.
Often we find ourselves with a lot of different things at our plates. From creation, to editing, to marketing and then attending the audience that spent precious moments of their life consuming your content and interacting with it.
Creating worthy content and getting it acknowledged is just like finding and driving peace out of the chaos.
But most of us are probably not driving as efficiently. Thereby accomplishing less in more time.
Today I am going to touch upon the 3 mistakes most of the content creators make that lead to inefficient workflow. And finishing the task in relatively more time.
Lack of automation & Simplification
It's funny that in a world with heights of mechanical advancement, we sometimes still end up doing all the mundane tasks that probably can be very well taken care of by the AI.
Wasting hours and days if you'd compound, that could have been used to create more content or plan a surprise date with your crush or wife.
Whether it is auto sharing your posts at social media. Or using a template wherever it can work, instead of redesigning the wheel.
Moving towards more automation is pretty ideal in all aspects of life. And simplifying the work where you can, saves you a lot of time. Always.
A lot of automation tools for social media management, content scheduling, email forwarding, note taking etc etc are available. As both free and paid options. That you can utilize to your advantage.
P.S - I am sure there are a lot of solutions in the market that we are still unaware of. Thant can quicken our content creation and can help in automating the uncool work. Do not hesitate to tell your favourites in the comments below.
Not Outsourcing The Un-Known
As humans we can learn and do only so many of things. There will always be something we are bad at, or not accustomed to execute.
While content creation is not rocket science and it has become one of the soft skills instead in this modern world. Possessed by almost everyone, might be in varying degrees of expertise.
But as a professional, it can suck innumerable number of hours trying to do everything by yourself. You might be good writer but not a great proofreader. Or you might be very efficient with videos and not at all with words. Or transcription or copywriting or anything else.
Well not all of us have the resources to outsource. But even the cheapest alternative, is usually always still better than learning and doing it by yourself. Especially if it is something you wouldn't need very often.
Not planning the day before
I have realised it myself.
The day I wake up knowing what I have to create are the days I usually accomplish more. And manage to write something or create something even with a tight schedule.
Whereas the unplanned days are wasted, and I am not able to utilize them properly. The same article that took me 5 hours to finish and publish, takes me 8.
But planning cuts out the heavy work of thinking, which often leads to overthinking and then getting distracted and procrastinating.
To actually eat the frog, you need to have a frog at first place. You must know what to eat. Or most of the time will be consumed in deciding the dining menu.
Sometimes words and creativity flows out of you. You just keep making impressions with the keys and your mind directly connects with the keyboard or the blank canvas.
And so, pre-deciding what you have to do the next day, makes it easy to achieve the state of flow. Tried and tested.
So these were the 3 mistakes you can avoid, that can help you do more in less time.
