Welcome to Week 196 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is “Tus Luces Sobre Mi”, which means “Your Lights on Me” in English!
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. In the post above, I made three recommendations for songs that would suit the theme:
• “Whenever God Shines His Light on Me” by Van Morrison & Cliff Richards (but I’ve actually done this one before!)
• “You are my Sunshine” Traditional, but I shared the Johnny Cash version…
• “Shine” by Collective Soul
Of those three, this is the second time in three weeks that I have chosen to take the 1990s nostalgia trip of trying to cover Collective Soul! Two weeks ago I tackled their song “December” for the theme “End of December” and now I realise that their most famous song “Shine”, with its lines of “Oh, Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down” and “Heaven’s Little Light Gonna Shine on Me” is the perfect 1990s rock song to match the theme this week!

I can’t sing as high as Ed Roland, so I had to simplify the guitar part because of my capo high on the neck, but let me give it a shot!

De esos tres, esta es la segunda vez en tres semanas que elijo hacer el viaje de nostalgia de los 90 al intentar cubrir Collective Soul. Hace dos semanas abordé su canción “December” para el tema “End of December” y ahora me doy cuenta de que su canción más famosa “Shine”, con sus líneas de “Oh, Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down” y “Heaven's Little Light”. ¡Gonna Shine on Me” es la canción de rock de los 90 perfecta para combinar con el tema de esta semana!
