Happy start of the week, dear Open Mic family! A new week gathers us around this musical stage and I feel honored to be the one who proposed the theme to develop, I am completely sure that we will see incredible presentations as usual.
I think it is essential in the times in which we find ourselves to talk about self-love, to understand that it is necessary to respect, love and value ourselves first to then ask others to respect, love and value us and that is why I thought this topic was appropriate, being that there are many songs that can represent self-love.
I want to share with you one that has been stuck in my mind for some time and it is Flowers by Miley Cyrus that came out in the year 2023 as part of her album "Endless Summer Vacation". This song was written after a separation of the singer with her husband and I think it describes perfectly what self-love is, it's about believing in yourself, knowing that you can love yourself, even better than others do and being okay with that, not being afraid of loneliness, but seeing it as part of a learning process.

Creo que es fundamental en los tiempos en los que nos encontramos hablar del amor propio, entender que es necesario respetarnos, amarnos y valorarnos a nosotros mismos primero para luego pedir que otros nos respeten, nos amen y nos valoren y es por eso que me pareció propicio este tema, siendo que canciones hay muchas que puedan representar el amor propio.
Yo quiero compartirles una que sinceramente tengo pegada en la mente desde hace algún tiempo y es Flowers de Miley Cyrus que salió en el año 2023 como parte de su álbum “Endless Summer Vacation”. Este tema fue escrito después de una separación de la cantante con su esposo y creo que describe a la perfección lo que es amor propio, se trata de creer en ti misma, saber que tú puedes amarte, incluso mejor de lo que otros lo hacen y estar bien con eso, no tener miedo a la soledad, sino verla como parte de un proceso de aprendizaje.
