How do we Reflect our Spirituality?
Dear friends, the theme of this week 175 of #HiveOpenmic invites us to reflect our spirituality. How do we reflect our spirituality? Do we have same reflection of spirituality? Do our spiritualities have a common goal or purpose? What is the aim or purpose of our spirituality? By the way, what is spirituality? I have been asking litany of questions and I still feel like asking more. However, let us understand the concept of spirituality before exploring how we reflect our spiritualities. Spirituality is the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.
"the shift in priorities allows us to embrace our spirituality in a more profound way". From the above understanding, spirituality entails taking more care of the soul than the body. Put differently, a spiritual person is more concerned with the soul than the physical body or material things . As a result of this, he pays attention to spiritual realities through meditation, prayers, reading of Holy books, watching of holy pictures and movies, doing good works, singing of spiritual songs, listening to God's words, etc. From the preceding, we can say that true spirituality entails care of ones soul and that of others. However, there are other forms of spiritualities within the circular world where certain people get emersed in evil cultic practices and dirty ways of life. Some people take had drugs and alcohol and they claim to be boosting or highing their spirits. In other words, the reflection of their spirituality is found in hard drugs, alcohol and promiscuous life. This is a false way of reflecting ones spirituality. True spirituality is reflected through meditating on holy things, prayers, fasting, almsgiving, singing of holy sings etc. All of thses are done to project the all Holy, all mighty and all great God who is the source and summit of our spiritual life.
