In Matters Of Relationship

I discussed about relationships in one of my posts in recent week. It was in response to the #memoirmonday initiative of @ericvancewalton. If you are yet to join, follow this link

In that post, I shared my perspective of relationship and how we could have the best from it. Relationship is a beautiful thing about life. It was out of a passion for relationship that God created man. He made many so that He could have a relationship with him.

There have been several types of relationships which I have heard of or witnessed among friends and relatives. I want to look at these relationship stories and evaluate them so that we can see what benefits and precautions we could derive from them.

Wrapped With Lust

I heard of a girl who developed an interest in a young man. She and her friends had been playing around this guy who never took her that seriously. One evening, she visited the guy and seductively lured the guy into having an affair with her. That was the end of the relationship.

What could we say about such incidents? We have many of such occurrences around us. The question is: Is there any logical relationship in such? Or is it that one of them is being driven by lust?

Relationships should be kept purely as much as possible. Relating with the opposite sex has a deeper meaning than just mating together. When a relationship is fueled by lust, it will likely not stand the test of time.

Too Much Of Silence

There was a male tutor who had affectionate interest in one of his students. The student equally had interest in him. The female student always comes around the male tutor because she had feelings of love for him. The guy knew that this girl was in love with him and he himself was also in love with the lady. But the relationship never came to reality because the guy never aired his feelings to the lady. The pain of losing each other resides in their hearts for a long time. As at the time the guy wanted to approach the lady, it was too late because (out of uncertainty) she had accepted another person.

Too much silence is not good for a relationship. We should boldly express our feelings to each other. In many cultures, it is the male partner who approaches the female one. Keeping silence for long can make the other partner give in to pressures from other angles.

A Little Patience

In a missionary outfit, a male staff member met a female counterpart. He made his intention known to the sister. But out of impatience, the sister went in with another man and left the missionary brother. She got married to that man. But sadly, the man died a few years after the marriage. The missionary brother on the other end got married and is still living happily with his wife and children.

Sometimes, a little bit of patience is required. The lady would have been enjoying her life with the brother but she rushed into a relationship and union that didn't last up to five years. We should cultivate the virtue of patience and perseverance in relationships.

Relationship is a beautiful thing. We are blessed to have relationships. Let us approach it with a good mindset and the right motives. I'm glad you spare some times to read my blog. Thank you.
