Worth Your Salt
Who said Boomers don't want to contribute to society and the economy? Implying they are too old to learn technology used online today.
With a lifetime of knowledge and experience, still able to share with others, technology opens up borders in electronic format.
Many don’t want to simply play golf, sit by the beach, sipping tea/beers gossiping with friends.
Boomers realize pension savings may not take them as far as wished through inflation/other shortcomings, or a reality check of having more to offer being at an age where years of experience still count.
Millennials work more into creativity, discovering hidden gems within technology and build. Older entrepreneurs normally looking for new challenges, offer something back for younger generation, feel purposeful going into golden years.
Silver vs Youth neither tread on each others toes as oldies tend to prefer creating businesses that serve.
Millennials don't need to think outside the box, never having been in it, whereas Silver Bloggers find ways of incorporating what they learned in the box finding means of expressing outside the box going into entrepreneurship. Who had the right to close the lid at age 60 or 65 years?
Twenty years ago entrepreneurs were considered only younger generation, today almost equal with many wishing to continue sharing knowledge gained over years in employment or running small business on their own.
Pandemic forced many into early retirement, business felt side effects of trained personnel assisting new generation into positions held for years, a void needing voice of assurance moving forward.
Why?
Why Silver Bloggers; After being retrenched in 2008, years ahead of retirement I took to the internet, learned blogging online through a paid tutorial run by an Australian and New Zealander (born in South Africa), simply called "Become A Blogger", followed up with a couple more paid courses in Marketing, joined Women in Business, Durban for monthly meetings.
Things changed after a close hijacking returning from a meeting in Durban, I seriously thought why put yourself at risk when everything can be done online? Software is available to join forums and places to share ideas locally and internationally.
Web2 all the way 2009-2017, spider web marketing connected using many platforms. Started helping build similar reward system social media, landed up with a dishonest experience in Troll #1. Moved across to what was then Steem, another distasteful online experience, fortunately our Witnesses made a hasty move creating Hive.
Hive may not be the only site with others available, for me now Hive is home base, the necessity of running a private blog became tedious in finding time to reinstate after incident with first Troll dilemma. Moved with everyone on second incident, very wise move at the time!
Once able to overcome learning hurdles in social media, one can always teach an old dog new tricks!
Hey ho Silver Bloggers we stick to same type of talk, understand each others woes and share. Like a new bride with something old, new, borrowed.., never always original, keep the blues at bay.
