Thank you @ericvancewalton for this prompt about my favorite teacher. I love it so much. I would not have thought of remembering my teachers, if not that you brought this up.

This is for the #memoirmonday prompt of week 37

Talking about my favorite teacher, I have had several of them. Many of them have affected my life positively. I had received motivation from some of them. There are those who encouraged me to study hard. I could still remember some of them and I am glad to have this opportunity to testify about them.

Mr Ikpe, My Primary Six Class Teacher

One of the teachers who influenced my studies in school as early as my elementary school days is Mr Ikpe. Mr Ikpe was a hard working teacher. He taught us just the right way. He had no time for unnecessary jokes and rants. He was committed to his work.

Mr Ikpe words of encouragement and motivation helped many of us in his class. He was not tired of telling us to sit up for our studies. He made the lessons quite simple for us to understand and encouraged us to work harder. Mr Ikpe was a good foundation I had in my growing days. With Mr Ikpe you can't say you cannot do it. He used both discipline and motivation to make sure that we his students excel.

Mr Akpan, The Science Teacher

I met a teacher in my Primary Three. He was not my class teacher, but he was the class teacher of one of the primary three classes. One of those days we were having a combined class for science. (Teachers used to combine their classes then whenever they had a subject in which not all the teachers could teach properly.

I first noticed the importance of this teacher when we were combined together for a science class on Matter. We carried our benches from all the other classes and went to his class to receive the lesson. Mr Akpan taught us on Matter that day.

As I progressed in my educational advancement, I advanced from the primary school to secondary school. In our Senior Secondary School One, we did not have a Chemistry Teacher. So, my friend and I looked for someone who could help us with extra lessons to cover our SS1 Chemistry Scheme of work. So, someone led us to a male teacher, behold he was Mr Akpan. It took us through the chemistry class for the SS1 curriculum. That was during the long vacation.

When I was in University, I went to register for one of my courses in the Chemistry department. It was Mr Akpan who was the lecturer in charge. What a teacher! I have always referred to his story in my life.

The story of Mr Akpan teaches me to strive till I reach excellence in whatever I am doing. I first know Mr Akpan as a Grade 2 teacher, teaching Primary pupils. But when I went to the highest level of education, I saw Mr Akpan there. It teaches me progress and hard work - always striving for excellence.
