This wild relative of the familiar white wagtail lives exclusively in forests. It arrives around the end of April, when there is no more snow and many insects have appeared, which it feeds on.
The bird lives mainly in the lower tier of the forest, but in the spring during the mating season, males sit on tree branches and sing songs, now and then sometimes flying up and smoothly descending down, demonstrating themselves. The rest of the time, the bird walks on the ground in search of food, and on the ground it is quite difficult to see it if it freezes and stops. Only its movement allows you to notice it and watch how it slowly walks and sometimes sways its tail like a white wagtail.
