It was a barangay fiesta where my workstation resides. The common thing when there’s a barangay fiesta is the barangay council will always invite the groups that belong to the community to celebrate the fiesta. The last barangay fiesta was a three-day fiesta celebration. Each day was given to each group that belonged to the community. In the barangay where my workstation resides, there are two workstation that have the same job as ours. So, the barangay council granted us a one-day celebration for the barangay fiesta.
The event started in the evening since the people in the community including us have free time during the evening. It was not the first time we had an evening event because of my work. Every year we had an event celebrated in the evening and sometimes ended at midnight depending on the event's starting time. Part of the program was to dance together with my colleagues. I danced since I was young, and it was fine for me to perform but I’m not a good dancer, I just danced. I had only one loyal supporter who watched my performance at every event and that will always be my husband. Every time I performed; I always asked him for feedback. I always asked if my makeup was fine and if I performed well. He always chose good words just to be safe and not disappoint me. That’s how loyal a supporter he is. Every event ended with satisfaction when he gave me positive reviews.
Last year Barangay Fiesta celebration was a surprise. I never expected that one of my group friends S @coloredshimmers in the M.A.R.L.S group would watch the evening event. However, it is not purely because of me, she attended because part of her sister-in-law was also part of the event. Even though we had chairs intended for me and my colleagues, I did not join the group since it was the first time that S was there to watch the event that was held in the barangay where my workstation was located. It seems like a mini reunion too together with my husband since we were classmates in high school. Back when we were studying in high school, S and I and the rest of the MARLS group always offered a presentation during a school program. I did not say that we’re famous, but I know that most of the students in our school know us.
I was happy that S attended the event and watched my performance because I had two supporters: S and my husband.
Overall, it was one of the best evening events that happened in my life since I started working at my workstation.
What about you? Have you ever experienced having an unexpected supporter in your performance?
