I went out to the main garden yesterday morning and realized that I had to move the sheet of plastic over one row. I counted out my rows and found that I had counted wrong so I had to cut the plastic more to fully spread it out. I had to make it work around the grapes which I hope will help deal with the grasses that keep invading.
The next sections were a bit harder as I had to move the irrigation around and had to shorten the distance between the rows. I had cut the poly at 36" but I did not allow for the fittings which caused the rows to be more like 38" apart. That didn't work with my new exactly 36" spaced rows. So I had to cut out some of the distance between irrigation lines but that brought them all right in line with the plastic.
It was hot as balls on the plastic with the reflected heat and I was happy to be done with it in the main garden. I managed to even keep all 29 rows as I had thought I would be removing one or more but if I do 4 rows in the greenhouse I will keep them all. The plastic being 50 feet long made me have to move the irrigation lines and I found that about 14 rows had been more like 54 feet long. So I loose a few feet from the rows but it makes everything even and straight now.
Next was the upper part of the main garden and I found that I will have room for another short row on the right side now that the main irrigation lines have been moved. I have to finish the plastic on the end but it is just outside the fence and I will get it done today.
Just above the garden shed I got the 5 rows of lines laid out then the plastic spread and weighted down. Nicely it was in the shade as my back was pretty torched from the glaring sun.
After eating lunch I made my way down to the lower garden where I had to drag a number of pieces of the old plastic from the main garden down to. I was able to cobble together a few pieces that covers a bit better than the plastic I used last year. It's nice to be able to keep using the plastic as it does still have life left to it.
I got the third piece in but I didn't get rocks on it to weigh it down, I will do that today. I was worn out by this point and ready to be done for the day.
This is what the spring days are supposed to be like.
The Kraken played game 7 against the Avalanche and holy crap they won! They are moving on in the playoffs after having beaten last years cup champions! Absolutely amazing for a team that is only 2 years old. They face the Dallas Stars next which will be a solid matchup.
Today I keep working on the gardens and trying to get them all ready for planting. It's cloudy today so I hopefully won't get more sunburned while working, I would like to get some seeds in the soil today if even just the 3 short rows of spinach, my wood and pipe from Home Depot deliver today so I will also be able to start building the shelving in the Tardis and I will have 36 bags of softener salt (each 40 pounds) to move down into the basement so it doesn't get any chance of rains.
