Hello foodies, are you in the mood for some different food?
If you read my Hive post yesterday Hitting the lower trail to Methil and the Heritage centre then you might have realised Mrs T and I were on a mission in another local town from ours and got caught short in a downpour and had time to kill!
What better way to kill time on a Saturday morning than to treat yourself to a wee spot of breakfast!
Put your umbrella away
Luckily we saw on google maps that there was a cafe just up ahead, and sure enough it was where it should have been!
Being blue I just had to go inside!
Cook's Cafe
To be honest I was a bit apprehensive as I approached to cafe, I saw the inside and couldn't see any seating!
Not to worry they had a wee bit through the back!
For info the address of the cafe was :
Cook's Cafe, 239 High St, Methil, Leven KY8 3ED
It turns out they have been there for over 40 years!
It looked like they still had the original decor. Which was comfy and functional.
I was just going to get a bacon roll or something, but then the menu said a Scottish breakfast of 5 items for £4.50.
That was ridiculously cheap.
Not only the food, but £1 for a mug of tea and £1.10 for a mug of coffee!
I had good vibes and ordered a tea, I don't normally as it is like dishwater.
Hash brown for the American.
You could order a hash brown or tattie scone for 40p extra. I ordered the hash brown for Mrs T to accompany her baked beans, fried egg, bacon, black pudding and haggis.
I had link sausages instead of beans. I think beans was an English thing they brought up here. A nice runny yolk is all the wetness you need when the haggis and black pudding were as moist and perfectly cooked as we got.
The fried bread.
In days gone by fried bread would be far too greasy, but now it is light and tasty and good value too!
We did have a wait as everything is cooked to order. They have an amazing take out service as the phone kept ringing and people kept coming in to collect their orders!
The verdict
I am giving Cook's Cafe a 10 out of 10.
It cost us £11.60 and was incredible value.
Even the coffee at £1.10 was insane value, you can keep your Starbucks and all that naff!
The food was delicious, they also do home cooked meals like stovies. At that price it is worth going there for a different meal!
They even had huge muffins and cakes. Unfortunately we had to run to get to out class so I didn't get a chance to snap them!
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful February
