Simple but great! Love the cardamom pod as the finishing touch. I was in Kerala, India for a couple of months in 2015 and fell in love with cardamom in tea, desserts, main dishes (biryani), and even cooked dal with it at a hostel. :)

The recipe reminds me of how people in the ex-USSR (Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, etc) use stale bread to cook a dessert. They mix (with a spoon) milk, egg, salt, and a bit of sugar (optional) and then soak each side of stale bread slices for 2-3 seconds in this mixture. After that, they fry the slices on a frying pan with some oil (typically sunflower oil since this is the most common one there). As a result, you get hot, slightly sweet, and soft bread slices with a very thin layer of scrambled eggs on them. Great food for breakfast.

It looks like a delicious and comforting dish! It's fascinating how different cultures have similar ideas for using stale bread but with their own unique twists. Kerala's use of cardamom is such a wonderful touch - its warm, aromatic flavor really adds depth to both sweet and savory dishes.
This Russian-inspired dessert with stale bread, milk, eggs and a little sugar looks like a comforting breakfast or snack, especially with that crispy egg layer. .Thank you very much for providing these details. Glad to see you visit my nearest country. And thanks for visiting and sharing the comments. I watched the you tube video. I want to try this.
have a great day.

Thank you! Have a great day! 🙂
