Tales from the Video Store: Do You Like PG Movies?

Hello all, I am happy to be back with another "Tales from the Video Store" installment. Today I would like to discuss the pros and cons of having to watch or at least listen to PG movies while working at the Video Store.

In the Video Store that I worked at, we had to keep a movie playing on the 8 televisions that were on posts in the middle of the store. The video played on the televisions and the audio played over the speakers throughout the store. While this provides some entertainment, the trick was that you could only pick a PG movie. That was the rule, but really the goal was to not offend someone with a movie you picked.

Usually at the beginning of the shift, each worker would pick a movie or two and we would put them near the VCR that was behind the counter. So that when a movie ended, we had movies available to replace it. Sometimes I worked a shift by myself, so I got to pick 7 hours of movies to watch (not really!) while I was working. After a few shifts, you start to realize...there are only so many appropriate movies to watch that are enjoyable multiple times.

You may disagree and I would love to hear your choices below. What (customer appropriate) PG movie or movies would you watch on your first shift?
This would be an incomplete article without me sharing some of my favorite movies to watch on a shift. A secret about me is that I am a huge original Star Wars movie fan so when I worked by myself, I loved to bring my own copies of the original trilogy because there is nothing worse than not having one of the movies because it was rented out. I didn't watch them every time, sometimes I needed a break. I enjoyed other movies like: The Goonies, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original!), Hook and the Princess Bride.

Be sure to share in the comments what movies you would watch in the Video Store, it should be pre-2000s but any PG movies will do. In a later article I will talk about this again, but more from a pet peeve perspective. Do you think there might be movies that you would get tired of experiencing at work?

Thanks so much for reading and have a great rest of your day!

Thank you for sharing your experience from working at the video store with us.
I can imagine the horrors of running the sme movie over and over no matter how good it is.
(fllashback to when my sister was 4 years old: She absolutely loved the lady and the tramp 2... And she ran 24h/day except when she was sleeping - guess who the babysitter was xD)
I would maybe recommend the emperor's new groove and the lego movie :D
