Tribe/community News

  • We had another leadership meeting this week and a great deal was discussed for advancing the CINE project. No rest for the wick...I mean enthusiasts, eh?
  • 5 NFT has been designed/created and soon they'll be minted. Advertising graphics will also be pushed as they have been done. The branding document is also updated.

  • We're also supporting streamers and they have a dedicated channel to share their streaming links.

  • We've tidied up the discord server, it is much less cumbersome now. Many channels have been merged to provide a smoother experience. Also to spice things up, we'll soon roll out roles matching with job titles/designation in movie production! These will be determined based upon the activities of the user considering certain conditions. Who knows, you could show off your shiny new role as an actor or director in the server!

  • We have a new curator amongst our midst! Everyone welcome @evaredskin. Eva has been one of the most active members of our community as well as the discord server. However, what matters the most in her case is that—she is a cinephile with a passionate love for cinema who also possesses vast knowledge in the field. She was an obvious choice for a curator. It's our belief she will do great!

Comedy Open Mic CINE sponsorship

Let's highlight some of the mentionable posts from this week that was posted in CineTV. We want to recognize exceptional pieces and let the authors know their efforts are not futile. This is also a fine way to get some more traction in their posts.

  • @erikah wrote about The Gilded Age, a new historical period drama that followed a naive young woman in the midst of 1882 high society. Erikah raised points about how things were for women back then and how she would cope personally.

  • @lordtimoty remembers a popular show aired on Australian tv back in the 90s. Who wants to be a millionaire?

  • @notacinephile shared an essay written by him on Ivan's Childhood, one of the early films by Russian auteur Tarkovsky.

  • @nbarrios67 shared a tight action-packed martial art movie The Raid Redemption from Indonesia that gained worldwide fame some years ago. The movie is super fun with fast paced action scenes.

Mirror (1975)

In 1975, Tarkovsky's Mirror was released this week. I remember reading his memoir. Back then he was sanctioned to only make one film in a few years. His films were mostly shown to working-class people, deemed third class and unworthy of viewership from those who were in power. Yet in those hostile times and places, Tarkovsky received letters, from the very working-class people, expressing their gratitudes. How they could relate to Mirror, how natural it felt to them. And I could feel my eyes getting heavy—I could feel the emotion Tarkovsky felt. Those letters were, though scarce in numbers, shining rays of sun in the dark he was submerged in. His confirmation, that what he was doing, was not in vain.

Now, Mirror is a simple film for many, and quite enigmatic for the most. I believe it will change its visage and meaning depending on the audience. Mirror has been regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.

Do check it out if you're interested.

Another great film, The Searcher (1956) by John Ford was released this week back in that year. It influenced a whole lot of later western films and the medium itself.

This is it for this week.

WE WILL RETURN.
