Emigrating to another country: LOH 195

in #hive-1244522 months ago

We are in times of many changes, thousands of people have had to leave their homes to start from scratch. Tell me, what do you think about immigration? Have you lived this experience or do you have someone close to you who has had to leave for another country? How do you feel about it?

The hardest part of emigrating was leaving my family. For me it was a great pain to leave my son, my grandmother, my siblings. So many memories, because really what I was earning at that time as a teacher was ridiculous. Well, still, but that's another topic. But as a mother I had many dreams and aspirations that I could not fulfill. I couldn't even help my grandmother with the medicines she needed, because if I managed to raise the money, then it wasn't enough for food and it was very hard. So I decided to leave the country with a cousin.

I had my husband in Chile and I was going to travel the first of January 2020, I gave my resignation, there was no turning back and my cousin's husband lent me the money to pay for the trip. In Bust I sold some valuable things I had and a few days before the trip I bought medicine for my grandmother, I bought food for the elderly so that they could sustain themselves for 2 months while I found a job.

I think the ugliest thing about traveling several days in a bust is the discomfort.Although we traveled in a so-called bust bed, that is horrible because no one is used to spend several hours in the same position, although we made stops to eat and relieve ourselves.Another thing that I hated was the porters. For me it was the worst, because if you have traveled you know that they check your luggage, you lose a lot of time and it is very stressful because of the sun, but apart from all that, tourism was a nice trip without major mishaps.

I really thank God because I was very lucky. I had only been in Chile for 3 weeks and I had already found a job. There were two other Venezuelan girls who had been working with him for several months and they made me feel at ease, they explained to me what my job was, one was Laura from Caracas and Karen from Valencia. I couldn't have been more salty. I could not choose another year to travel, but the year the pandemic broke out because a few months later they decreed quarantine and people only went out to buy food and sales fell a lot, we had to be very resourceful.

Nadie.

I remember that with my cousin we invested money in some anti-acne and anti-aging creams and we sold them through a web page that she had created. Then I worked as a nanny, cleaning houses, I worked in an optician's shop, as a secretary, I had several jobs in almost 3 years in Chile. I also lived in several provinces, communes as they say there and I realized that there were many Venezuelans. In every place I went there was always a Venezuelan and I think maybe that's why some Chileans were xenophobic, because they believe that Venezuelans steal their jobs, because sometimes we are willing to charge less than the minimum wage in order to send something to our families. I met good people as well as bad people, but despite some bad experiences in Chile is a wonderful country, but I decided to return in December 2023. Because my grandmother was very sick. I think that when we are out of our country our love for our country grows more. You understand that although there are other countries, they are very beautiful and offer many opportunities, none compares to Venezuela. Coming back to my homeland is a great emotion. Who in their right mind would want to leave their comfort, their children, their memories, their family and friends? No one.

There are many people who only live criticizing those who leave the country, I do not judge those who stay, because many I know that they give, because they want to and others because they have no other option. And a great truth is that the vast majority of people who leave the country are very young people who feel they have no future, so I do not say that I would not leave again, who knows, let's wait how the country will be in the coming months.

This Sunday we celebrate Children's Day in my country (Venezuela). If you have children, how do you celebrate their day? If you don't have children, do you let out that “child inside you”? Tell us what you do and how does this make you feel?

Well this children's day with my partner we took our children out for a walk in the morning, we took them to eat ice cream and eat whatever they wanted There were some inflatables in a nearby square and we took them for a while to have fun and it was free There were dynamics and juices that had been organized for all children who wished to participate Even the event organizers gave all children who participated in the games some toys as a gift Much of the morning was spent running and playing Overall it was a very nice day.

I've never had to live outside my country to find work, but with the economy doing poorly my sons may look for work that way. It must have felt like a godsend meeting other Venezuelans living in Chile. A common bond @faniaviera

Yes, it is a very challenging experience because many of us who left are leaving loaded with many dreams and hope, thank GOD I met many beautiful people who reached out to me, thank you very much for your visit.

Leaving your loved ones for another country isn't easy so it must be harder for those with kids. It's nice to read about your good experiences while you were abroad. Those will surely stay in your memories for long :)
