While my sons did the Buldak Spicy Noodle Challenge, I had the challenge of getting them to write about their experiences so we can make posts for them on Hive!
This is a fairly tough experience but I am slowly but surely winning at getting them to put out some sort of content.
Meren @merenludick's experience can be read here:
I tried the Buldak Hot Noodle challenge with my brother (Reaction Video)
Matthew @matthew-williams' experience can be read here:
Buldak Hot Noodle Challenge!
Both of them have links to the video that we posted on Youtube.
Meanwhile I made the Noodles like so:
Buldak Spicy Noodles - Preparation
These are not just 2min noodles that can be microwaved. They are also something like 10x the price of the 2min noodles. @clairemobey (aka their Mom) bought these as a spoil for the boys.
She was surprised that they took so long to eat them, however, Matthew goes to his dad for the holiday straight after Christmas and they really wanted to make this attempt together and not one at a time.
So, I wanted to put a good effort into making these noodles.
After reading the instructions, which is as is traditional - English with lots of errors, I pieced together the intent in the instruction:
Cook the noodles, pour off most of the water, add the sauces, stir fry with the sauce, add to the bowl and top with flakes.
So I cooked the noodles and removed most of the water. I did both packets cooking together and determined that I would dish out equal portions and then top with flakes.
I then added the very dangerous looking sauce. So dark and shiny! It smelled intense!
I did the stir-fry and added the noodles to the bowls.
And finally topped it with flakes.
Then the boys did the video. While I was cooking, I got Meren to rehearse a few times what he was going to say on the video and then they did the video, as you see, all in one take with zero editing.
The Hardest Part!
The hardest part was getting the boys to write for their posts. How we do it is they write on a piece of paper what it is they want to say in the post and generally choose the layout.
If I have a lot of work to do on the PC, I will type for them but sometimes if I am about to do other things then I will get them to type. This does not usually help because I still need to come in to help with spelling and grammar but it does teach/train them in honing their typing skills.
Altogether, this is the process that is necessary to get the kids to post on Hive so they can start building something up for themselves! I would really like for them to post at minimum of once a week.
Yeah I know, they have had their accounts for 3 years now. Imagine they had posted every single day!
But no... most newbie adults that I know on Hive cannot maintain that sort of posting schedule. So it stands to reason that I build this habit into the boys slowly. Once a week is good enough. Matthew asked me if he can make a second post and I said to him of course. He can make as many posts as he wants. He just needs to write them!
Now... just to get @aimeludick (my daughter) to post as well!
Thank you for reading this post!
Cheers!
