Indestructible carpets of green and blue.

I have always liked these little blue flowers. We have been having them in one little spot in a garden since I remember. Always showing up in spring. A few little cuttings were planted in different parts of the garden to cover the patches where nothing else wanted to grow. They did a lovely job.
And later another part was moved to the orchard for the same reason. There they almost roam freely, taking over the rocky pile.

Indestructible and very reliable. Little Periwinkles :)

Vinca minor

I actually have never seen them growing anywhere else besides the garden, but apparently they are quite common. And can be quite invasive too. They grow close to the grounds, and the long stem rots easily in a new spot. Then it branches, and keeps crawling. And they do that from spring until fall. They will take a break for the cold Polish winter, but in spring they continue their thing.

Native to central and southern Europe, from Portugal and France north to the Netherlands and the Baltic States, east to the Caucasus, and also southwestern Asia in Turkey.

This lovely bunch was growing under the apple trees. It looked so amazing with the sun shining on the glossy leaves and dozens and dozens of blue flowers popping from between the foliage.

See how shiny the leaves are?

The trees and bushes around still didn't grow their leaves so the mass of green was especially enjoyable.

Little green bonus: a bunch of those tiny maple trees have been sprouted around the apple trees and among the periwinkle carpet. They will not manage to grow big though, as once in a while all the grass around is mowed and they are mowed with it.
They do look so beautiful though with the fresh, light green leaves. Just a few of them on eat tint sapling. A bit of a shame... but they cannot stay there.

Hello @ewkaw
I don't remember having seen a plant like it in the city where I live, its small flowers are really beautiful
Beautiful photographs

Thanks! Maybe it doesn't grow in your country?

Good morning dear friend @ewkaw
Your mother's garden is a true paradise, it has been wonderful that they planted the cuttings of this beautiful plant in a place in the garden, they give very beautiful flowers
I love your photographs

Thank you! She really takes care of the garden well and has many varieties of plants growing :)

These small purple flowers really look very beautiful, especially as they grow together with their dense green leaves which makes these small flowers even more stunning.

Totally agree! :)

And can be quite invasive too.

Pretty? Yes, very. But it will kill anything in its path, which it had already done when I moved into this house. I let tufts of the stuff survive, but mostly I pull it up by the roots. I want it to be gone!!! This is impossible really.

I also pull up tiny maple seedlings, but your photographs of both are super pretty!

Hahaha yea once they settle, they are not ging anywhere :D

The maple will be gone, we don't allow it to grow. Though I do like the trees a lot, there is no place for them in orchard.

Pleasant and beautiful photos turned out.

Thanks :D
