Come and see moms taxi.

I think that she was taking her children to pre-school :)
183.jpg

Not really hahaha, as the goslings were tired from all of the swimming and they were resting on her back. With the dad in close attendance at the back.
'
They did however have a problem as the sides of the water channels were too high and although the goslings had no trouble jumping in, they could not get out and back onto land. So what to do?
I first took some photos of them and then as you will see in here, we made a plan to try and help.
So come and see.

The mom swam a few times to the sides of the pool, as her thought was to jump up onto the side with the goslings on her back in order to get them out of the pool. It was a great idea, except for one thing. The goslings could not hold on to her back.
103.JPG

She would jump up and goslings would simply fall back into the water.
099.JPG

Here you can see that her idea didn't work.
144.JPG

Then she found an edge in the pool for the goslings to sit on.
115.JPG

The little ones tried to get the water off so that they could dry.
120.JPG

Then the mom saw that all of the goslings could not sit on the ledge and she collected them all again. This time she took them to a water plant, but it was still too small for all of the goslings to fit.

There was this little cutie that the dad collected in the photo above.
177.JPG

So what was the solution? A ramp of course, but there were no wooden planks around, so we nicked a cautionary sign for wet floors and anchored it into a submerged water flowerpot.
191.JPG

Would the ramp work? I don't know as we had to leave, but yes, I think that it will work to get the goslings out. We dare not to have tried to catch and take the goslings out by hand, as the male goose is furious in his attacks. He wouldn't understand that we were only trying to help.
So in the morning we will pop in there to see if they are all okay. Just another unexpected adventure today and I have told a few of you before that the spring season is a season of surprises.

I hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Sadly not good news here Lady Joan, we popped down this morning to see them and they must have had a torrid night, as there are only 3 goslings left. Yesterday there were 9, so it means that some predators had a feast.

As you can see, there are only 3.

That is really upsetting, perhaps find a plank that can be placed permanently for wildlife to move in and out of the pond. Depending on where this pond is speak to the caretaker of the gardens and point out that the goose cannot get out due to design.

You read my mind and a manager told me this morning that the geese have solved the problem. And it is such a simple solution. They load the babies on the father's back. Then the mom hops out onto the side and the dad comes close to the side of the pool. The mom calls and the babies simply pop off the dads back onto the side where the mom is standing. Problem solved, as the dad acts as a bridge.
Ingenius methinks!

Nature finds a way, sadly many lost already. Pond design not for little ones!

Always happens and by now we are used to it. Nature's way of feeding everyone.
They have now put a much better ramp in for the small ones.

Because they stay out of treble.

How cute! It's a wonder she stays above the wayer herself with such a large number of goslings on her back 😄

Oh yes, there are no traffic officers to fine her for overloading the taxi :)

Did you know that you can use BEER at dCity game to **buy dCity NFT cards** to rule the world.

Thank you and I was explaining about the water trap that the babies were in. Here is the one that I used in the post before this one.

They now have only 3 little ones left.

!BEER

They are very funny, the silly game makes me want to linger watching them play in the water. ☺

Very cute indeed and yes, I can also spend a long time watching their antics.

How sweet that family is. It's a good thing you provided the ramp and I hope they use it!

Thank you and yes, I was told this morning that they used the ramp. Sadly overnight 6 of the goslings were taken by predators and now there are only 3 left.
I posted a photo in the comments about the 3 survivors.

Awww, nature can be so cruel. As much care as I take with my chickens, the youngest ones sometimes come up missing. At least the parents still have three to care for. My heart goes out to them!

Yes, we see it as cruel, but in fact nature is very effective in keeping the populations balanced.
Just think about it, if each pair of geese have 1o babies and all survived, then they will breed as adults and soon the planet will be over populated by millions of geese. In the meantime the raptor birds will starve to death. Balance is very important in nature.
Thankfully, as you will see in my post today, the 3 little ones have survived another day.

a devoted duck mother who taxis herself to her cubs.
Some people don't even sacrifice that much for their children.
You have photographed these moments of mother duck and sweet baby ducks very well.I was amazed by each photo frame individually... I congratulate you for this successful work.👍🏻👍🏻🦆

Thank you and yes, nature teaches us how to be good parents. Over here unwanted human babies are wrapped in plastic and thrown into dirt bins.
Animals and birds will fight to the death to protect their offspring, but we simply dump ours.

Glad that you appreciated the photography.
