Good evening everyone, today I will be showing us how I cut and sew a straight gown.
Here I have my Ankara material, lining, babylace, zip and my breast part or breast tube which ever name you choice to call it.
The first thing you will do is to fold your material by two, measure out your length for the down part of the gown and then you cut it out, and to cut the back side you also need to fold your material by two and place the front part on it and give out your two inches allowance for your zip.
Then you proceed by cutting your back side of the gown by sixteen inches, before you cut out the length you will fold your material by two just like you did for the down part of the skirt before cutting it out, after that you separate it by cutting it in the middle where your you will cut out your neck, and then you cut out your hand pit, and when cutting your neck you can use any inches you want it depends on how you want the back to be deep , but as for the hand pit it's eight inches.
Now for the front side which is the breast part I cut out my half length by ten inches cause I'll be attaching something at the upper side of the breast part by six inches and that will make it to have my full sixteen inches, this is what you have after cutting out your breast part for both the middle part and the side this is the outcome.
After cutting it out, now for you to cut the breast part out you just place your material on the breast part and cut it out in same shape that's for the middle part and for the side you fold it by two and place the middle part of it and cut it out.
After cutting all that I need I proceed by putting up my lining and fixing the breast part and Join the back this is how it looks.
This is the front after joining the breast part and attaching my six inches for the upper side.
After that I proceed by joining the both side, fixed my hand, and put in my zip and here is my straight gown.
Thank you for going through this.
