Hello needleworkers! How are you all? Has the holiday given you more time to work on your projects or has it hiven you more work but little to no time for yourself? Whichever you may have, just don't forget to eat on time and rest to stay healthy and productive.
For today's blog, I will share about my latest project, it was a sling bag I made while waiting for corn samples during rendering an overtime work as a laboratory attendant.
I and my workmate, Paula take turns in rendering an overtime for work since early November and most of the time, I go home as late as 11 pm to help fonsy buy corn. I start my overtime at 6 pm and ther is usually a 20-30minute interval for the corn samples to arrive as the lanors unload them from the truck we buy. Corn is stocked on the silo and so we always assure the quality as it will be stocked as long as one month inside of it.
I had several attempts in crocheting while having over time, but thsi sling bag is one of the successful project I had.
To start with, I used a 3mm crohet hook an a 4ply indophil yarn and for the base, I did not make the usual chain and doubek crochet in each chain after skipping the first 3 chins on the hook but rather, I made a chain 3, double crochet on the first chain, chain 3, turn, double crochet on the center of the last row, and after having enough length, I started doing 3 double crochets on each chain 3 spaces and also to the other. This made my work faster and easier.
For the body of the bag, made double crochets on eaxg of the double crochet on the previous round and after the body was taller than my phone, I made a triangular cover by decreasing in each sides through making double crochet together. And to secure the contents of the bag, I also incorporated as button hole and to bring the bag anywhere, I also added a sling and rounded the opening with a single crochet so it won't get bigger as I use it every day
I planned the bag to be multipurpose so I added a divider inside to prevent my phone from being scratched by the coins and keys that I usually bring whenever I go. Too bad I was jot able to take a documentation of the process.
Anyway, I like how my sling bags turned out and used it for some time until my kids borrowed them and never returned, thus the title. I make, I use for a while and then it's gone. Have you experienced this also?
Now I can't see the sling bag through all the laundry at home and hopefully I will be able to find it soon.
